Double Gameweek 25 is likely to see a number of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers play their <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-triple-captain-and-when-to-use-it">Triple Captain</a> chip, gaining three times the points for their chosen player rather than double.
While the chip can be used any time, most experienced managers tend to use it in a double gameweek, in the hope their player can profit from playing an extra fixture.

<h2>What do we know about the FPL double gameweek schedule so far?</h2>
Four to five double gameweeks are expected between now and the end of the season, with the doublers confirmed for two so far:
<ul>
<li>Double Gameweek 25 – Liverpool, Manchester City, Brentford and Luton</li>
<li>Double Gameweek 28 – Bournemouth and Luton</li>
<li>Double Gameweek 34 – to be confirmed</li>
<li>Double Gameweek 37 – to be confirmed</li>
</ul>
Ben has highlighted the potential for the postponed Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur game to create a double in Gameweek 35 or 36, however this could also be part of Gameweek 34 or 37.
We cannot be sure of the schedule for Double Gameweek 34 or 37 yet, as it depends on future FA Cup results.
Teams who reach the quarter-finals will have no league match in Gameweek 29 and their planned fixtures will move to either Gameweek 34 or 37.

This makes it difficult to say for sure whether playing the Triple Captain chip now, or saving it for later, is the best strategy.

<h2>Should the Triple Captain chip be used in FPL Double Gameweek 25?</h2>
Manchester City and Liverpool players are the main candidates for the captaincy in Double Gameweek 25.

As highlighted in our fixtures analysis, City have the best odds of scoring the most goals and this helps explain why Erling Haaland (£14.4m) is the runaway leader when it comes to predicted points.

The midfielder could be an alternative captain, having returned in all four of his league games since coming back from injury.
Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) is the pick of the Liverpool options, given fitness doubts over Mohamed Salah (£13.0m).
Nunez is third for predicted points, a further 0.8 behind De Bruyne.

<h3>Is two home games an advantage for City and Haaland?</h3>
One of the pros for a City Triple Captain in Double Gameweek 25 is the fact they play twice at home.
And although City&#8217;s <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> are strong home and away, from a goalscoring perspective they have the edge when playing at the Etihad.
They have averaged 2.64 goals per game at home this season compared to 2.25 away. Their home returns are bettered only by Liverpool&#8217;s (2.75).
The reigning champions have over-performed their expected goals (xG) though, with their 1.69 xG only 10th best.
Haaland has scored eight at home and eight away this season but since arriving in the Premier League, his goals have more often come at home. He scored 22 of his 36 league goals at the Etihad in his record-breaking campaign.

<h2>FPL Double Gameweek 28: Can Solanke rival Haaland for the Triple Captaincy?</h2>
Dominic Solanke (£6.9m) is the current frontrunner for predicted points in Double Gameweek 28.
The Bournemouth striker is having a superb season and has the third best goals tally in the league with 13 (12.09 xG).
He is a talismanic figure, being involved in 48% of the Cherries&#8217; goals while on the pitch.
Bournemouth play Luton and Sheffield United at home, teams who rank poorly for expected goals conceded (xGC) on the road &#8211; 19th and 16th respectively.
Solanke, who is on penalties, therefore looks worthy of consideration for the Triple Captain chip.
But in predicted points terms, Hub AI favours Haaland in Double Gameweek 25 by some margin. Solanke&#8217;s predicted points for his double are 6.3 below Haaland&#8217;s.

<h2>Will there be better options to play the Triple Captain chip?</h2>
Those not playing their Triple Captain in Gameweek 25 face a wait to see what other opportunities arise.
The likes of City and Liverpool are still in the FA Cup and could have a future double gameweek as a result, although there is currently no guarantee.
Potential doubles could include:
<ul>
<li>Liverpool: v Fulham (A) and Everton (A) or Aston Villa (A) and Fulham (A)/Everton (A)</li>
<li>Manchester City: v Fulham (A) and Tottenham Hotspur (A) or Tottenham Hotspur (A) and Brighton (A)</li>
<li>Arsenal: v Wolves (A) and Chelsea (H)</li>
</ul>
There are too many variables at this stage to predict the exact doubles with confidence &#8211; and alternative chips may be better in these weeks anyway.
This may persuade FPL managers to &#8216;stick&#8217; rather than &#8216;twist&#8217; and plan to use the Triple Captain in Gameweek 25 or 28 where the fixtures are known.
The Free Hit could be well used in Double Gameweek 34, given the potential for blanks as well as doubles.
Double Gameweek 37 is expected to be the biggest double of the season, which should make it easier for FPL managers to field more doublers. This could make the Bench Boost a better play.
Using any chip this late in the season could have its drawbacks though, particularly if the league is decided by then and teams have little to play for. Rotation could be a headache as a result.
