<p>FPL Double Gameweek 19 is almost done, with Fulham and Chelsea facing off next week to wrap things up for the gameweek.</p>
<p>Here we briefly review the key FPL takeaways from Thursday&#8217;s action (January 5).</p>

<h2>Gameweek 19 review: Chelsea vs Manchester City</h2>

<h2>Cancelo chaos</h2>
<p>After<strong> Kieran Trippier (£6.0m),</strong> Manchester City&#8217;s <strong>Joao Cancelo (£7.3m) </strong>is the highest owned defender in FPL,  with 47.4% of managers selecting the Portuguese fullback.</p>
<p>Despite his popularity, Cancelo has been a nightmare to own since the restart, playing just 22 minutes in the first two games back.</p>
<p>It looked like his fortunes might change against Chelsea, as he was named in the starting XI, and once the game kicked off it became clear that Cancelo was actually playing on the right wing.</p>
<p>In theory, an out-of-position player should&#8217;ve been exciting from an FPL perspective, but City were underwhelming in the first half, with <strong>Rodri (£5.4m) </strong>also in an unfamiliar role, filling in at centre-back.</p>
<p>At half-time, Pep Guardiola made the shocking decision to substitute his two senior full-backs, with <strong>Kyle Walker (£4.8m) </strong>departing alongside Cancelo.</p>
<p><strong>Rico Lewis (£3.9m) </strong>and <strong>Manuel Akanji (£5.0m) </strong>were the replacements, which saw City shift to a more conventional four at the back formation.</p>
<p>In fairness to Guardiola, these substitutions worked a treat, as City became the dominant team and eventually secured the win.</p>
<p>After the game, Guardiola admitted his initial selection was wrong:</p>
<p><em> &#8220;I say thank you to Joao (Cancelo) and Rodri to make the effort to play in the positions. I imagine another type of game, especially if they decide to play with five in the back as sometimes happens, we could use Kyle and Joao as full-backs.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>This provides little clarity for Cancelo&#8217;s owners, who have a tough decision to make in terms of whether to keep or sell ahead of a double gameweek.</p>

<h2>City&#8217;s super subs</h2>
<p>Substitutes were the theme of the night for both teams, and City&#8217;s goal was no exception.</p>
<p><strong>Jack Grealish (£6.8m) </strong>and <strong>Riyad Mahrez (£7.5m) </strong>came on for the final 30 minutes, and combined for the only goal of the game.</p>
<p>That means that the last four goals City have scored have all been either scored or assisted by Grealish or Mahrez. But whether this pair are anything close to sure starters remains to be seen.</p>
<p>From an FPL perspective it was pretty much a nightmare match, with <strong>Erling Haaland (£12.2m) </strong>and <strong>Kevin de Bruyne </strong><strong>(£12.5m) </strong>both blanking, and the only attacking returns coming from the bench.</p>
<p>It creates a tricky situation for City&#8217;s upcoming double gameweek, as you would expect to see Lewis continue to take minutes off Cancelo, while the attacking players will no doubt be rotated too.</p>
<p>Right now, it looks like the only FPL picks who are sure to start for City are Haaland, De Bruyne, and <strong>Ederson (£5.4m).</strong></p>
<p>For those who play <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/sky-fantasy-football-tips/">Sky Fantasy Football</a>, Rodri remains a useful option too, due to his propensity for tackles and passes.</p>

<h2>Chelsea&#8217;s injuries</h2>
<p>Chelsea might not have matched City for goals, but they certainly managed to contribute to the theme of plentiful substitutions.</p>
<p><strong>Raheem Sterling (£9.7m) </strong>went down injured after five minutes, and <strong>Christian Pulisic (£5.7m) </strong>suffered the same fate just 17 minutes later.</p>
<p>The forced introduction of <strong>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£8.6m) </strong>in the fifth minute meant that <strong>Kai Havertz (£7.8m) </strong>dropped back into midfield, frustratingly for his owners.</p>
<p>Graham Potter also threw on youngsters <strong>Lewis Hall (£4.4m) </strong>and <strong>Carney Chukwuemeka (£4.3m)</strong>, who could both present cheap FPL midfield options if they can nail down a spot in the team.</p>
<p><strong>Mason Mount (£7.6m) </strong>was yet another Chelsea casualty, missing out on the matchday squad entirely.</p>
<p>The second fixture of Chelsea&#8217;s double gameweek is against Fulham next week, and Potter has stated that he is &#8220;hopeful&#8221; that Mount will be fit for this game.</p>
