Mohamed Salah broke the record for the most FPL points in a single season this weekend, surpassing his own milestone of 303 set in 2017/18.
The Liverpool midfielder is up to 306 points &#8211; and still has nine league games to stretch the record further.

<h2>Salah hauls from the penalty spot &#8211; and plays 90</h2>
There was little doubt Salah would do well against the league&#8217;s bottom side Southampton on Saturday &#8211; but the big question was how many minutes he would play.
Would he get an early substitution ahead of the crunch Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain or be rested altogether?
The answer was neither, with the Egyptian playing the full 90 minutes.
Doubts over Salah&#8217;s minutes led some engaged managers to turn to Cole Palmer once again but in reality, this was a minority, with 94% of the top 250,000 managers opting for the game&#8217;s leading scorer.

Southampton threatened to spoil the party by taking a 0-1 half-time lead after Will Smallbone capitalised on a mix-up between Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.
But the second half was different, with Arne Slot making three changes.
Darwin Nunez, making only his eighth league start of the season, levelled the match before penalties in the 54th and 88th minute from Salah sealed the win.
Speaking to Match of the Day, Slot expressed frustration at his team&#8217;s first-half performance:
<blockquote>&#8220;In Paris I had to change maybe because of tactics, now I had to change because of workrate and I don&#8217;t think that has happened a lot this season.
&#8220;It was a poor performance first half, not only in the way we played but definitely also in the energy we brought.&#8221;</blockquote>
He also noted how he thought it best to go out early to win games &#8211; something for FPL managers to consider should similar doubts arise later in the campaign:
<blockquote>&#8220;The only good thing about today was that for the first 45 minutes I don&#8217;t think they ran at all &#8211; I exaggerate a bit &#8211; but they saved their energy.
&#8220;For me that&#8217;s not a good thing because I believe it&#8217;s better to just go all in and just to create habits, what I always talk about, but I also know these players are capable of doing better not only when it comes to performance but also work rate.&#8221;</blockquote>

<h2>Ill Palmer misses penalty as goal drought goes on</h2>

Palmer once again failed to register an attacking return as Chelsea scraped a 1-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.
Marc Cucurella matched Salah&#8217;s points total of 15, scoring a second-half goal and keeping a clean sheet.
Palmer had a chance to score from the spot in the 22nd minute but saw his effort saved by Mads Hermansen.
It was the first time he had missed a spot-kick in a Chelsea shirt, with the former Manchester City midfielder having broken a Premier League record by scoring 12 in a row.
Blues boss Enzo Maresca revealed after the game that Palmer &#8211; who was subbed off in the 73rd minute &#8211; had been ill. He said:
<blockquote>&#8220;Cole, yesterday, didn&#8217;t train and during the night, he didn&#8217;t feel well. The reason why he didn&#8217;t train yesterday is because he didn&#8217;t feel well. This morning, he woke up and he asked me, &#8216;I want to be on the pitch because I want to help this team, this club to play Champions League&#8217;.
&#8220;So in the last two days, he was completely out. Fever, is it something I can say in English? Diarrhoea. In the last 48 hours, he didn&#8217;t train with the fever and this bad feeling. This morning, he asked to play the game and this shows how these players want to bring the club where it belongs to.&#8221;</blockquote>
Illness aside, this has been a very frustrating period for Palmer owners.
He has managed just one assist since Gameweek 22 &#8211; against West Ham in Gameweek 24 &#8211; while racking up an expected goal involvements (xGI) of 4.7 in that time.
The £11.0m FPL asset could be a popular sell for those looking to buy Erling Haaland in Blank Gameweek 29.

<h2>Sanchez surprise starter ahead of Jorgensen</h2>
Another piece of Chelsea news was the return of Robert Sanchez to the starting lineup &#8211; his first league start since Gameweek 23.
It was not entirely from Maresca&#8217;s comments who he favours as his number one between Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen &#8211; making both an avoid for FPL purposes:
<blockquote>&#8220;The idea is not to change keeper every game. But we change in the past because I was thinking to give Robert some rest.
&#8220;Today, Robert did well. The last game at home in the Premier League, we won and kept a clean sheet with Filip Jorgensen, today happened the same with Robert and Robert did well.
&#8220;So now we have a game on Thursday which is an important game and we will see.&#8221;</blockquote>

<h2>Haaland and City fail pre-Gameweek 29 audition</h2>
Manchester City players will be on the radar of many for their game against Brighton (H) in Blank Gameweek 29.
With Salah and Liverpool not playing, Haaland is the standout captain according to <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Hub AI</a>, on 7.1 predicted points.
But City&#8217;s performance at Nottingham Forest was not one that would see FPL managers rushing to the transfer market for.
They were beaten by a late goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had earlier seen Ederson tip a shot onto the post.
This was a game that City dominated in terms of possession (69%) but the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> showed a much closer picture, with the home team&#8217;s expected goals (xG) of 0.72 close to City&#8217;s 0.86.
Haaland had a quiet game, with just two shots on goal and 0.15 xG.
The result left Forest four points clear of City in fifth. Five teams are within five points of the top four.

<h2>Evanilson starts as Ouattara drops to bench</h2>
Evanilson returned to Bournemouth&#8217;s starting 11 for the first time in the league since early January, playing 70 minutes of the 2-2 draw at Spurs.
The Brazilian scored and scooped all three bonus points, with Marcus Tavernier scoring the Cherries&#8217; other goal.
Justin Kluivert was denied a goal by a VAR intervention but did grab an assist for Evanilson&#8217;s goal, while popular defender Milos Kerkez also registered an assist.
Evanilson&#8217;s start saw Dango Ouattara benched &#8211; and a repeat could be awkward for owners relying on him in the blank.
Ouattara got 19 minutes, replacing Evanilson, but did not have a shot on target.
Antoine Semenyo was a late withdrawal, with apps like FotMob flagging an injury, but cramp the potential issue.

<h2>Bruno free-kick earns United a draw against Arsenal</h2>
Bruno Fernandes was once against Manchester United&#8217;s star as his free-kick gave the Red Devils a 1-1 draw against Arsenal.
The Portuguese international is on a fine run of form, with FPL scores of nine, 10 and 10 in his last three games.
He had a chance to win the game in the closing moments, with David Raya clawing his shot away.
It&#8217;s Leicester (A) up next for Ruben Amorim&#8217;s team and Fernandes will be a popular addition to Free Hit teams for the blank.
On the Arsenal side, Declan Rice was the goalscorer and there was a return from injury for Gabriel Martinelli.
Ethan Nwaneri &#8211; who could be a budget enabler for Haaland in some teams &#8211; was taken off in the 58th minute to accommodate Martinelli.
