<p>It feels like a distant memory after this International Break…</p>

<h4><strong>The top four</strong></h4>
<p>Spurs are the only team with a 100% record, but I’m still not convinced about them, and it underlines that there are still so many unknowns, as we’re only three games into the season. The teams directly below them (with the exception of Brighton – no offence) look to be the likely title challengers.</p>
<p>West Ham have started the season on fire (although they did drop two points against Crystal Palace [primarily <strong>Gallagher (£5.5m)</strong>]) and their recent signings will only strengthen them (especially defensively), the only issue is how they deal with the Europa League, as they still lack real squad depth. If they can keep <strong>Antonio (£7.9m) </strong>fit, they’ll be a handful for anyone.</p>

<p>Manchester United scraped a win against Wolves and all eyes are on the return of <strong>Ronaldo (£12.5m)</strong>. Honours were even for Chelsea against Liverpool, but Chelsea had to play a half with 10 men. Manchester City are starting to click now with back-to-back 5-0 wins and are joint top scorers alongside West Ham.</p>

<h4><strong>The Premiums</strong></h4>
<p>We’re spoilt for choice now. <strong>Salah (£12.5m)</strong> keeps ticking away and has now scored 14 Premier League penalties in a row, equalling the records of Leighton Baines and Alan Shearer. Only Matt Le Tissier (23) is above him. The others haven’t fully got going yet.</p>

<p><strong>Fernandes (£12.0m)</strong> is out of favour due to the arrival of <strong>Ronaldo (£12.5m)</strong>. This has also caused several players to forget about the deadly <strong>Lukaku (£11.5m)</strong> and <strong>Kane (£12.3m)</strong>. Going forward, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’re going to need at least one premium forward slot.<strong>  </strong></p>

<h4><strong>Who to target</strong></h4>
<p>Just like the last time they were in the league, Norwich appears to be the whipping boys having conceded the most goals (10) in the first three fixtures (admittedly they were against tough opposition).</p>
<p>Arsenal have only conceded one less than them, but I’m a little more optimistic that they can tighten up. I could be clutching at straws, as a desperate <strong>Ben White (£4.4m)</strong> owner.</p>
<p>I’m also targeting Newcastle (although Leeds have conceded the same amount of goals), as they always look like they’re going to concede chances (and unlike Leeds their xGC is actually very similar to the number of goals actually conceded).</p>

<p><strong>Fernandes (£12.0m)</strong> disappointed again, as I underestimated Wolves and with the introduction of <strong>Ronaldo (£12.5m)</strong> this could spell the end of the line for him. <strong>Antonio (£7.9m)</strong> has three double-digit hauls in a row, surely he can’t continue, but can you see it ending against Southampton?</p>
<p>Looking at the top scoring players by position, it’s already highlighting why midfielders are my preferred position to captain.</p>

<h3><strong>Old Hunting Ground – do any of the likely lads have a good record vs their opposition?</strong></h3>

<p>It was tempting to throw in <strong>Ronaldo (£12.5m)</strong> and <strong>Lukaku (£11.5m)</strong> but the stats would be meaningless given how different all the factors would have been.</p>
<p><strong>Salah (£12.5m)</strong> – didn’t start away against Leeds last season, but we all saw what he did at home on the opening game of the season. Leeds conceded the third most penalties in the league last season (10) and have already conceded one this season. Could this be Salah’s 15<sup>th</sup> in a row?</p>
<p><strong>Fernandes (£12.0m)</strong> – isn’t on anybody’s mind now that Ronaldo is in town. He’s never blanked against Newcastle though.</p>
<p><strong>Kane (£12.3m)</strong> - returned in each of the last four Premier League games, including two goals and two assists at home last season (he also scored against Crystal Palace in the last two away games). With the two new forwards joining the league, he’s become a forgotten man, but he’s a proven goal scorer.</p>
<p><strong>Son (£10.1m)</strong> – Kane’s partner in crime also has an excellent record against Crystal Palace recording an assist in both games last season, however he’s never scored against them away from home.</p>
<p><strong>Antonio (£7.9m)</strong> – you can’t take too much from his record, as he’s only converted to a centre forward in recent years. He’s never scored against Southampton away from home, but I don’t expect that record to continue.</p>
<p><strong>Calvert-Lewin (£8.2m)</strong> – similar to Antonio, you can’t read too much into his record. What is impressive is that he’s scored against Burnley in the last three games in a row and that looks likely to continue. Everybody is drawn to the premium forwards, but will their output this week justify the ~four million in additional spend requirement over Calvert-Lewin?</p>
