Gameweek 4 Recap

The Top

With four games played, the cream is starting to rise and the favourites all sit at the top. Despite Newcastle parking the bus, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) drove them to victory.

It was his movement and clinical finishing that proved the difference. Without him, the old Manchester United may have struggled to break the deadlock. Yet the lack of a quality defensive midfielder is impacting their defensive potential.

Chelsea are a well oiled machine and similar to the aforementioned Ronaldo, it was Romelu Lukaku (£11.6m) that made the difference.

The Belgian scored two goals from two shots. That’s something that wouldn’t have happened last season with Timo Werner (£8.7m).

Liverpool had too much to handle for Leeds United and if it wasn’t for some outrageous greed, combined with poor finishing from Sadio Mane (£11.9m), the Reds could have won by much more.

Everton continue their run of form and their budget midfielders are attracting attention. Manchester City created a number of chances against Leicester, but unlike Manchester United and Chelsea, they lack a clinical number nine.

Yet their defence looks watertight and they have only conceded one goal so far, which is only equalled by Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Premiums

Mohammed Salah (£12.5m) scored his 100th goal and could have returned more. His single return was not enough to earn any bonus points, which is something that does impact on his captaincy appeal at times.

Harry Kane (£12.2m) didn’t register a single shot at the weekend and the lack of creativity was prominent.

Meanwhile, both Ronaldo (£12.5m) and Lukaku (£11.6m) demonstrated why they are the premium forwards in demand with a brace and maximum bonus.

Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) recorded a respectable eight points, but it’s clear who the main man at United is now.

Who to Target

Both Norwich and Newcastle look to be conceding a lot of chances at the moment. Leeds are always willing to do battle with any team and this leaves them open against stronger opposition.

Past Performances vs Gameweek 5 Opposition.

It was tempting to throw in Ronaldo (£12.5m) and Lukaku (£11.5m) but the stats would be meaningless given how different all the factors would have been since they last played in the league and for different teams.

Salah (£12.5m) – has never blanked when he’s started at home against Crystal Palace. He came on for a 33-minute cameo last season and still managed two goals and an assist at Selhurst Park.

Mane (£11.9m) – also has a tremendous record against Crystal Palace and hasn’t blanked in his last eight games against them.

Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) – picked up his only goal against the Eagles at home. However, the absence of Elliot might impact on some of the positions he’s been taking up this season.
