<p><em>In this <strong>UEFA Champions League Fantasy Fantasy</strong> article, Kevin will review his Matchday 1 team, the substitutions he will make for the day 2 games, and his upcoming strategy moving into Matchday 2.</em></p>

<h2>Day 1 &#8211; UCL Team Review</h2>
<p>An <strong>absolute shocker</strong> to start the UEFA Champions League Fantasy 21/22 season.</p>
<p>I finished <strong>Day 1 </strong>with <strong>27 points </strong>and sit roughly at<strong> 500k </strong>in the world<strong>. </strong>Not a great showing and a disappointment for my first Fantasy Football Hub team review.</p>
<p>Looking back at my team selections, I feel like I went very safe and moved away from what I did well last year: ignore total ownership and go for the players I believe will bring success.</p>
<p>It never helps when a player on your team gets a red card <strong>(Aaron Wan-Bissaka (€4.0m)). Raphael Varane (€5.5m) </strong>not starting forced the Wan-Bissaka move which obviously didn&#8217;t work out for me.</p>
<p>I also made the mistake of going for the <strong>wrong €4.0m defender</strong> in <strong>Alberto Moreno (€4.0m)</strong> and not <strong>Jerome Roussillon (€4.0m)</strong>. Moreno didn’t start, and Roussillon finished with <strong>8 points</strong>.</p>
<p>The red card didn’t help my other <strong>Manchester United</strong> assets either in <strong>Cristiano Ronaldo (€11.0m)</strong> and <strong>Fred (€5.5m) </strong>but I am happy Ronaldo was able to find the back of the net.</p>
<p><strong>Marcos Acuna (€4.5m)</strong> and <strong>Mason Mount (€7.5m) </strong>were also disappointing but at least<strong> Joshua Kimmich (€6.5m) </strong>picked up a clean sheet (he did get a -1 for a yellow card).</p>
<p>It&#8217;s frustrating to look back at drafts and know previous teams would have scored much higher, however this is where I currently stand, and <strong>I have to move quickly</strong> to fix this team.</p>
<p>I will wait until tomorrow’s games have ended to actually see where I end up, however I am almost certain I will be hitting the <strong>Wildcard for Matchday 2.</strong></p>
<p>Using the <strong>Wildcard</strong> this early goes <strong>against my chip strategy</strong>, but this game moves quickly, and I need to try and <strong>rectify my early mistakes</strong> before I fall further behind.</p>
<p>Hits (-4 transfers) are not an option for me, so I’d rather try my best to fix this and still have an opportunity to score well overall.</p>

<h2><strong>Day 2 of Matchday 1 &#8211; Substitutes </strong></h2>
<ol>
<li><strong>Switch captaincy from Cristiano Ronaldo (€11.0m) to Erling Haaland (€11.0m).</strong> Ronaldo did score a goal and is hovering on the twist limit for me, however having scored poorly overall in Day 1 and knowing Haaland’s ownership, this makes changing the captaincy an easy decision.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Achraf Hakimi (€6.5m) for Alberto Moreno (€4.0m). </strong>This is a no-brainer: Hakimi is an offensive defender playing for Paris St. Germain while Moreno didn’t even start.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Edson Alvarez (€4.5m) for Marcos Acuna (€4.5m). </strong>This is a midfielder, defender swap. Acuna was able to manage 3 points, however with my current points total I need to risk a ball recovery midfielder to try and generate a few more points.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Casemiro (€6.5m) for Fred (€5.5m). </strong>A Brazilian defensive midfielder swap. Casemiro has the potential to score higher than 3 points and I need to risk the opportunity to generate more points.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Philipp Kohn (€4.5m) for Antonio Adan (€4.5m). </strong>Goalkeeper Kohn losing his clean sheet on a penalty just adds to the frustration of yesterday&#8217;s games. Hopefully Adan can come in with a clean sheet.</li>
</ol>
<p><em>*Note: I can’t substitute Wan-Bissaka as he picked up a red card (can’t get much worse than being stuck with a -3, but we move on).</em></p>
