<h2>My Team: Gameweek 8</h2>
Gameweek 8 was an extremely popular week to play the Wildcard, with fixture postponements forcing the hands of many managers.
The Hub&#8217;s &#8216;My Team&#8217; tool suggested a Wildcard team of its own, and managed to exceed the gameweek average score by 29 points!
We break this mammoth score down for you here, and look at what we can learn from the decisions of artificial intelligence in order to improve our own FPL teams.

<h2>My Team: No Aston Villa clean sheets this season? Double Villa defence.</h2>
By now, you&#8217;re probably already familiar with Fantasy Football Hub&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/my-team">&#8216;My Team&#8217; tool</a> &#8211; which aims to bring together points projections, suggested transfers, live rank, price changes, planning functionality and so much more – all in one place, personalised for your own team.

My Team will continue to evolve, as we are striving to constantly improve the tool, and with it the quality of selections across the team.
It can be particularly useful when you are selecting an entire team from scratch, such as on a Wildcard or Free Hit.
For Gameweek 8, My Team suggested the lineup below. At a glance, it perhaps looks underwhelming, with double defence from struggling Aston Villa, alongside some other unusual picks.

However, in a week where the average score was 50 points, with most wildcarders in the 40-60 point range, the team above would have scored 79 points!
But what does this mean for our FPL strategies going forward? Does artificial intelligence have some information that we as players don&#8217;t?
Popular FPL YouTuber and Hub ambassador <a href="http://twitter.com/fplmate">Dan (@FPLMate)</a> commented that &#8220;the robots know FPL better than us&#8221;.
Dan had presented the &#8216;My Team&#8217; Wildcard lineup during his Gameweek 8 stream, and the team was met with raised eyebrows by viewers.

<h2>My Team: Son benched? No problem.</h2>
Perhaps these doubts were somewhat merited.
Son Heung-min (£11.7m) for example, had been in poor form, and was rumoured to be benched as a result &#8211;  a rumour which turned out to be true.
The South Korean came off the bench in the second half however, and scored three goals in just 31 minutes against a tired and hopeless Leicester defence.

Phil Foden (£8.0m) was another rotation risk who helped the team produce a big score, as part of a triple-up on Manchester City attackers.
The Aston Villa defensive pair also made for unlikely heroes, as Steven Gerrard&#8217;s men had not kept a single clean sheet yet this season.
Despite this, Lucas Digne (£4.7m) and Ezri Konsa (£4.4m) came through with 7 points apiece against Southampton.
So what can we take away from this outcome?

<h2>My Team: Form? Fixtures, fixtures, fixtures.</h2>
&#8216;My Team&#8217; uses a complex algorithm to determine which fixtures and players present the best FPL matchups, prioritising picks based on this, and is therefore less likely to be put off by prior form and rotation risks.
Whilst Son and Foden were not nailed on to start, the attacking upside presented by their fixtures meant they were given a place in the team ahead of more popular (and nailed) Wildcard picks, like Gabriel Martinelli (£6.6m) and Jarrod Bowen (£8.1m).

In a similar vein, despite Villa&#8217;s lack of clean sheets this season, there is more to that statistic than meets the eye, and the fixture against Southampton was one which was correctly highlighted as an excellent clean sheet opportunity.
This relates somewhat to the fact that &#8216;My Team&#8217; doesn&#8217;t carry the same biases as human beings. We have been burned many times by Digne 1 pointers and Foden benchings, which turns us off certain picks based on historical precedent.
My Team looks at every gameweek with a &#8216;fresh pair of eyes&#8217; (yes, we know machines don&#8217;t generally have eyes, Terminator aside) and instead simply considers the best matchups to target in a given gameweek.
