<h2>Manchester City stats and best players</h2>
<p>It was another title winning season for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, and they needed quality at both ends of the pitch to pip Arsenal to the trophy.</p>
<p>City scored the most goals of any team, and conceded the second-least, with only Arsenal's impressive 29 bettering their goals conceded tally of 34.</p>
<p>This was roughly in line with their expected data, while in attack there was a significant overperformance compared to xG - indicative of the quality of finishing on display from City's attackers.</p>
<p>All of this translated into some big FPL returns across the City squad, leading to a total of 2071 FPL points, a total again only bettered by Arsenal.</p>

<p><b>Erling Haaland </b>was unsurprisingly City's top scorer once again, with his 27 goals placing him five ahead of <strong>Cole Palmer</strong> to win the 2023/24 Golden Boot.</p>
<p><strong>Phil Foden </strong>contributed an impressive 19 goals, the same tally as strikers <strong>Ollie Watkins </strong>and <strong>Dominic Solanke</strong>, which takes some doing from a midfield position.</p>

<p><strong>Julian Alvarez</strong> led the way for assists with 11, but the Argentina international has now departed City for Atletico Madrid.</p>
<p>Close behind was FPL veteran <strong>Kevin De Bruyne</strong>, who reached double figures for assists for the seventh time in his Premier League career.</p>
<p>De Bruyne was matched in this regard by<strong> Jeremy Doku </strong>and <strong>Rodri</strong>, with the Spain midfielder also contributing a steady eight goals despite his deeper starting position.</p>

<p>It was a strong defensive performance for Manchester City according to Expected Goals Conceded (xGC), with Guardiola's side ranked second for this statistic, although they had more than 10 xGC fewer than third-placed Liverpool.</p>
<p>Their 34 actual goals conceded was a strong display, roughly in line with their xGC, although in actuality they only managed the same number of clean sheets as Everton (13) while the Gunners managed 18.</p>
