<p>Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has released more details about the new Assistant Manager chip &#8211; formerly known as the Mystery Chip.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s everything you need to know about the chip.</p>

<h2>What is the Assistant Manager chip?</h2>
<p>While FPL involves picking a squad of 15 players, the Assistant Manager chip will additionally see us select one of the Premier League&#8217;s 20 managers to score points.</p>
<p>For three successive gameweeks once the chip is activated, your chosen manager will score points based on whether their team wins, draws and keeps a clean sheet, as well as goals scored.</p>

<h2>How does the Assistant Manager scoring system work?</h2>
<p>The Assistant Manager chip will earn points based on their respective teams&#8217; results as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Team win:</strong> +6</li>
<li><strong>Team draw:</strong>+3</li>
<li><strong>Goal scored: </strong>+1</li>
<li><strong>Clean sheet: </strong>+2</li>
</ul>
<p>Things get a little bit more complicated than that however.</p>
<p>If your chosen manager faces a club at least five places higher in the Premier League table at the start of the gameweek, you&#8217;ll earn an extra <strong>10 points </strong>for a win and an additional <strong>five points </strong>for a draw.</p>
<p>You therefore have a choice between opting for a manager from a top team, with potentially more opportunities for goals and wins.</p>
<p>Or you could opt for a higher-risk choice to maximise the potential points.</p>

<h2>When will the new chip become available?</h2>
<p>The chip will be playable from Gameweek 24.</p>
<h2>How much will the Assistant Managers cost?</h2>
<p>Each Assistant Manager has a set price that will not change throughout the season.</p>
<p>They range from £0.5m and £1.5m.</p>
<p>They will have to be accommodated within your existing FPL squad budget, so your choice of manager could affect the quality of players you own.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s further complicated by the fact the Assistant Manager will count in the three-per-club limit. So if you own <strong>Mohamed Salah</strong>, <strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold</strong> and <strong>Joe Gomez</strong>, Arne Slot will be off the menu.</p>
<h3>FPL reveal Assistant Manager chip prizes</h3>
<p>Mikel Arteta, Enzo Maresca, Arne Slot, Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe come in at the top £1.5m price.</p>
<p>Everton did not have a new manager at the time the price list was revealed but David Moyes will be among those on £0.5m.</p>

<h2>Can you use other chips at the same time as the Assistant Manager?</h2>
<p>You can only play one chip in a single gameweek and this applies to the Assistant Manager too.</p>
<p>For the three gameweeks it is active, no other chips can be used.</p>
<h2>Can you change your Assistant Manager?</h2>
<p>If you want to change your manager during this three-gameweek period, it will cost a transfer in exactly the same way as players.</p>
<p>But the first time you select an assistant upon activating the chip, it will not count as one of your free transfers.</p>
<h2>Are there any examples of how managers would have fared so far?</h2>
<p>FPL provided the following information about Bournemouth&#8217;s Andoni Iraola. They said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;AFC Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola has been the main beneficiary of the table-bonus element so far this season.</p>
<p>&#8220;He sits in second place in the current 2024/25 manager standings, having overseen victories over higher-ranked opponents such as Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>In a <a href="https://www.premierleague.com/news/4193290">table of managers</a> released by FPL, Iraola has managed the largest three-gameweek score to date, with 47 points.</p>
<p>Perhaps unsurprisingly, Russell Martin has performed worst, with just 30 points over the season and a best three-gameweek score of 12.</p>

<h2>How will this affect our FPL strategy?</h2>
<p>We will publish more analysis before the chip goes live.</p>
<p>There will be plenty to think about. FPL for example has outlined that it could offer an alternative approach to chip strategy in double gameweeks.</p>
<p>The Assistant Manager could earn points from four matches in a three-gameweek spell, assuming there is one double when it is activated.</p>
