Newcastle finished 4th in the Premier League in 2022/23 &#8211; here we take a look at their FPL and wider fantasy football prospects for the coming season.

Callum Wilson was Newcastle&#8217;s top scorer in the Premier League with an impressive 18 goals in 21 starts.
Miguel Almiron wasn&#8217;t too far behind, notching 11 goals following an impressive run of form, while Alexander Isak managed 10 in his debut Premier League season.

As far as assists were concerned, Kieran Trippier took the crown with seven, thanks in part to his set-piece deliveries.
Joe Willock also excelled in this department, finishing just one assist behind Trippier on six.

There was no shortage of impressive performances in defence either, as Newcastle performed excellently at the back throughout last season on their way to conceding the least goals in the league.
Nick Pope and Fabian Schar offered the most fantasy potential from these defensive options, although Sven Botman was a popular budget enabler.

Newcastle&#8217;s 14 clean sheets were a large part of their Premier League success last season.
In fact, only Manchester United kept more in the entire league, and no team conceded fewer goals than the Magpies.

Newcastle were prolific at the other end too, with only Liverpool taking more shots in the box over the course of the season.
They only scored the fifth most goals however, with plenty of notable missed chances for each member of Newcastle&#8217;s forward line.

Nick Pope takes his place between the sticks, having kept an impressive 14 clean sheets, with only David de Gea keeping more.
Sven Botman and Fabian Schar were a formidable partnership in central defence, with the latter posing significant goal threat from set-pieces too.
Kieran Trippier was the taker of those set-pieces, and the creative hub of the team from right-back, racking up seven assists as a result.
Dan Burn provided defensive width on the other side, although Eddie Howe&#8217;s side have been linked with signing a left-back in the Summer transfer window.
Sandro Tonali is the biggest of their Summer signings so far, with the Italian likely to slot into the holding midfield role.
Joelinton provides energy and attacking impetus from the left of the midfield three, although he can also play wide, while the talented Bruno Guimaraes is the box-to-box man on the other side.

Harvey Barnes could start on the left-wing, having joined from relegated Leicester City, although Alexander Isak will push him for a starting place.
Youngster Elliot Anderson has impressed so far in pre-season, and he can play on the left wing too, as well as in central midfield.
You would expect to see Miguel Almiron keep his place on the right, given his natural affinity for cutting in on his left foot.
Callum Wilson looks like first choice striker as it stands, but Isak could easily claim this title by Gameweek 1.

<h2>Newcastle stats for other Fantasy Formats</h2>
Sky Sports Fantasy Football awards bonus points for passing, tackles, shots and saves. Players are awarded two or three extra points for 60/70 passes, four/five tackles, two/three shots on target and three/five saves.
In Sky, centre-backs and defensive midfielders are the ones who tend to pick up passing bonus most often. Tackles tend to come from full-backs and defensive midfielders.
Tackles are also a factor in Telegraph Fantasy Football for midfielders, who are awarded a point for every two tackles. Goalkeepers get one extra point for every save made.
