<h2>Nicolas Jackson: The history</h2>
Jackson, 22, has been with Villarreal his whole senior career, having progressed from the youth ranks.
He joined the Spanish side from Casa Sports in his native Senegal in 2020.
A loan spell at Mirandes and Villarreal&#8217;s B team came before his senior debut in October 2021.
His performances nearly sealed him a move to Bournemouth in January but the transfer fell through due to concerns his injury status at the time was worse than initially feared.
Staying in La Liga for an extra few months may have been a blessing.
He found his best goalscoring form of his career, scoring nine times in his last eight league games. It took his tally to 13 for the season, with four assists on top.
His 12 league goals came against an <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl">expected goals (xG)</a> figure of eight, highlighting his finishing abilities. It was a good return given only 16 of his 26 appearances were starts.

The table looks at Jackson&#8217;s <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> compared to fellow forwards in Europe&#8217;s five big leagues and European competition over the last year.
It shows excellent non-penalty xG per 90 and a strong ability to carry the ball forward.
But the 6ft 1ins striker is not highly rated in the air, which may hinder him in the Premier League.
This analysis tallies with <a href="https://www.whoscored.com/Players/426050/Show/Nicolas-Jackson">WhoScored&#8217;s</a> rating of him. His best skills are listed as key passes and finishing alongside dribbling.

<h2>Nicolas Jackson: FPL prospects</h2>
Jackson is a centre-forward but he can also play on either flank.
Given Chelsea&#8217;s need for a number nine, it seems likely he will slot in centrally.
Fellow new signing <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/christopher-nkunku-fantasy-football-profile">Christopher Nkunku</a> can also play as a central striker, however he generally prefers to play as a support striker or attacking midfielder.
There is therefore a route to starts for Jackson under Mauricio Pochettino, although there is a long way to go in the transfer window and Chelsea could yet sign competition for him.
Romelu Lukaku (£7.0m) and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (£6.5m) also remain Blues players for now.
Jackson comes in at £7.0m, while Nkunku is listed as a forward in FPL, coming in at £7.5m.
Early signs are that FPL managers are willing to spend the extra. Nkunku is in 19% of teams, compared to Jackson&#8217;s 0.8% ownership.
It may be a case of watching both in Chelsea&#8217;s first match against Liverpool before deciding whether to invest when their fixtures improve.

Sky awards bonus points for certain levels of successful passes, tackles, shots and saves.
Attacking players rarely reach the levels required for passing bonus, however shots and occasionally tackle bonuses are within reach.
Telegraph likewise awards bonus for tackles, however this is only for midfielders.
Dream Team gives extra points to those who achieve a WhoScored rating of seven or more, while points are also earned for being named Star Man.

<h3>Jackson&#8217;s stats</h3>
As a striker, Jackson&#8217;s shots on target are the only real factor when it comes to bonus in Sky.
He averaged 1.6 shots per game last season, with 0.9 on target, according to WhoScored data.
His WhoScored rating was 6.87, with four man of the match performances.
Like FPL then, his price and ability to find the back of the net will be the main factor in how attractive he is as an asset.
If the goals flow, then so will the shot bonuses and seven-plus ratings.
