<p>Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed for Chelsea.</p>
<p>The 33-year-old will join from FC Barcelona for a reported fee of €14m, with Marcos Alonso going the other way as part of the deal.</p>
<p>We take a look at Aubameyang&#8217;s fantasy football prospects, assessing his potential for FPL, as well as other fantasy formats.</p>

<h2>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang &#8211; FPL History and beyond</h2>
<p>Chelsea&#8217;s new striker is no stranger to FPL managers.</p>
<p>Aubameyang made 128 appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal, racking up 68 goals and 16 assists during this period.</p>
<p>He has a golden boot to his name too, notching 22 goals in both the 18/19 and 19/20 seasons.</p>
<p class="page-title">In FPL 2018/2019, he actually scored higher than any other forward, finishing the season with a huge 205 FPL points.</p>
<p>Perhaps of greater relevance to us however, is his form in 2022, which is also impressive &#8211; Aubameyang scored 11 goals in 18 appearances during his short time at FC Barcelona.</p>
<p class="page-title">These numbers are clear evidence of his goalscoring pedigree, as are the incredible 98 league goals he scored for Borussia Dortmund.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s important to note here is that Dortmund&#8217;s manager for most of this period was the current Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel.</p>
<p>On this basis, you would anticipate that the former Gabon international will be relishing the opportunity to work with his former coach again, and this relationship should hopefully lead to plenty of starts and subsequent FPL points for the new man.</p>
<p>In terms of his FPL position, Aubameyang has been classified as both a forward and a midfielder in the past, but you would almost certainly expect him to come in as a forward this time around.</p>

<h2>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang &#8211; Role at Chelsea</h2>
<p>There&#8217;s no question about Aubameyang&#8217;s role in this Chelsea side.</p>
<p>The Blues have struggled to find attacking form of late, with <strong>Kai Havertz (£7.8m) </strong>and <strong>Armando Broja (£5.4m) </strong>the only real forward options at the club right now.</p>
<p>Given the failures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to make a real impact at Chelsea, Tuchel will be hoping for a different story this time around in the case of Aubameyang.</p>
<p>Once he is up to speed, the new man should slot straight in up front, with <strong>Raheem Sterling (£10.m)</strong> and <strong>Mason Mount (£7.7m)</strong> either side of him.</p>
<p>Whether or not Aubameyang plays the majority of Premier League minutes remains to be seen, with other competitions on the horizon in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>Given Chelsea&#8217;s poor attacking start to the Premier League season however, you would think that Tuchel has no time to lose in getting his team firing.</p>
<p>They are crying out for a striker, and as you can see below, their average positions in the last game indicate that Havertz doesn&#8217;t really occupy this role, with Sterling the furthest player forward as of late.</p>
<p>For that reason, you&#8217;d expect Aubameyang to be starting league games as soon as he&#8217;s fit and ready.</p>

<h2>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang &#8211; FPL prospects</h2>
<p>So, is Aubameyang an FPL option?</p>
<p>We reckon he just might be.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth noting that he may not be available to start straight away.</p>
<p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">Thomas Tuchel spoke recently on the jaw injury that Aubameyang has picked up: </span></p>
<blockquote><p><em><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">&#8220;At the moment, he cannot train. We need to get him a mask for his jaw so he can begin training next week.&#8221;</span></em></p></blockquote>
<p>Once he&#8217;s over this issue however, he looks like an incredibly tempting pick.</p>
<p>At this stage of his career, you would assume that Aubameyang is joining Chelsea to play as an out-an-out striker, which should put him in the mix to score plenty of goals, given the array of talent around him.</p>
<p>However, he has been priced with this in mind by the folks over at FPL.</p>

<p>Aubameyang comes in at a cool £9.0m, which could be an absolute steal given the number of chances Chelsea are likely to create.</p>
<p>Of course, there is the question of minutes, especially given his age.</p>
<p>Havertz and Broja will certainly see game time, but the question is whether this game time is predominantly restricted to cup and European matches rather than in the Premier League.</p>
<p>Overall however, it feels like a risk worth taking for FPL managers.</p>
<p>Chelsea&#8217;s <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">fixtures</a> look good in the medium term, with Fulham, Wolves, and Villa all to come in the next six.</p>
<p>If Aubameyang is starting up front regularly, and is not priced excessively, he could be the perfect differential striker for the weeks to come.</p>

<h2>Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang &#8211; Sky, TFF and Dream Team prospects</h2>
<p>Goals and assists are important in all fantasy formats, but away from FPL, other factors are also in play.</p>
<p>Telegraph awards midfielders points for tackles, while in Sky points are available for passing, shots and tackle tiers.</p>
<p>Dream Team also uses WhoScored ratings and awards bonus points to the &#8216;star man&#8217; and those who have achieved a game rating of seven or above.</p>
<p>Aubameyang was given an average WhoScored rating of 7.36 in his best season for Arsenal, and his average rating remained around this range during his time in the Premier League.</p>
<p>In his strongest season at the Emirates he averaged a total of 3.9 shots per game, consistently putting up solid numbers across his other seasons too.</p>
<p>He averages around 20 passes per game, with 75% of these successful &#8211; higher than the usual rate of completion for strikers, but some way short of the levels required for this type of bonus.</p>
