ShePlays WSL is a fantasy football game based on the Women&#8217;s Super League &#8211; and we&#8217;ve partnered with them ahead of the start of the Women&#8217;s Super League on Sunday (October 1).
The game is entering its fifth season, and in this article, we explore some of the key differences between it and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) to help you get started.

<h2>Player selection and pricing</h2>
For both FPL and ShePlays, you get to select 15 players for your squad. 
In ShePlays, you have to select two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders, three forwards and two extras from a position of your choice. 
The formations are slightly different as well, in that you cannot have a one-forward formation. 
The substitution policy for both ShePlays and FPL are the same in terms of bench order and the formation having to be valid. 
You get one free transfer per round, with each additional transfer costing five points. Transfers do not save if unused. 
In ShePlays, you will always receive double points for a captain each round. Your captain and vice-captain are both identified at the top of your team sheet. 
In the event they do not play, the next player on your team sheet who earns points will get double points. For example, if neither Khadija Shaw or Chloe Kelly play in the example below, Frida Maanum would earn double points if she plays.
We recommended ordering your players with your favourite/most important players at the top of your team sheet.

ShePlays WSL has static pricing which will not change throughout the season, ranging from £150,000 to £800,000 with price increases varying from £25,000 at the lower end to £100,000 at the high end. 
The total budget for all players is £6m.
Feedback from one of the game&#8217;s newer players was positive:
<blockquote>“I love FPL but your pricing is so much better. The FPL pricing is all way too low, meaning many teams are very similar, whereas I have compared my team in this game to other engaged players and there is loads of variety, due to higher prices. It makes it way more of a challenge.”</blockquote>
<h2>Are there chips or double gameweeks? </h2>
There are no chips or double gameweeks in ShePlays. 
<h2>ShePlays WSL scoring</h2>
Scoring for FPL and ShePlays are similar, but there are a few differences.
The base points are pretty much the same but with some minor tweaks. The main difference in the base points is how clean sheet points are awarded. 
In FPL you get clean sheet points for all players  except forwards who play more than 60 minutes, but with ShePlays, only goalkeepers and defenders get points. 
However, these players will all get some points if minutes played. The FPL rule that states &#8216;if a player has been substituted when a goal is conceded this will not affect any clean sheet bonus&#8217; does not apply to ShePlays. 
At ShePlays we also do not deduct points for a missed penalty or own goal, however the deduction for a yellow or red card is greater. 
Goalkeeper points are similar, with penalty saves both being five points and saves earning points. The main difference is ShePlays goalkeepers earn 0.5 points per save, smother, and claim (rounded down).
Bonus points are not a factor in ShePlays. Instead we have attack and defence points. 
The aim of attack and defence points are to reward performances of players who impact a match regardless of if they end up on the score sheet or get a clean sheet.
Attack points are awarded based on passes, crosses, shots, chances created, and shots on target. 
Defence points are awarded based on tackles, intercepts, clearances, and aerial challenges.
As we rely on more <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> for our scoring system, we do not run live score updates but instead they are updated in a batch at the end of each round.

<h2>What does this mean in terms of overall points?</h2>
Overall, the average ShePlays player will earn more points per match and therefore the scores per round will be greater. 
Last season, the highest-scoring ShePlays player was Shaw, who earned 326 points in 22 matches, whereas Erling Haaland earned 272 points in 35 Premier League games. 
It also means you are not reliant on players with clean sheets or goal involvements to get you points, and players who consistently put in a shift week in week out are always rewarded.
An example of the difference in points scoring is Round 13 last season, when Lauren Hemp of Manchester City scored 17 points but did not record a goal or assist. She earned 13 attack points due to her shots and chances created throughout the match. 
If the FPL scoring system were applied to her that match, she would have received two points for minutes only, and then maybe would have got a bonus point or two.
