<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">21/22 Review </span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">As the dust settles on another gripping fantasy season, it’s time to assess what went well - or what perhaps didn’t. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">I always struggle going into a season after a World Cup or Euros. In an international year, it all rolls into one, the season ends, and then it’s straight into the competition. You get caught up in it – playing a fantasy game, learning about teams you didn’t know anything about, and before you know it the World Cup/Euros has finished, and you have four weeks to start preparing for next season. The Euros finished on July 11th, and the Premier League started on August 13th - so it was a tight turn around. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">This Summer, the season will finish in May, and we can take a break from football for seven or eight weeks. Then in early July, we can start studying player lists and prices once the game is launched. Sure, I’ll check out the fixtures once they are released in June, but without seeing the game rules and overhaul dates, it’s not worth investing much time. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">After coming first, 30th, 82nd and 103rd in four out of the last six seasons, I was certainly confident of another successful season, maybe another title challenge, at least a comfortable top 100 finish.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">But it wasn’t to be, as it turned out to be a frustrating, disappointing and challenging season.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">So what went wrong and why? And what can be learned from it? As long as you can learn from the mistakes you have made, then I believe it’s all positive and will stand you in good stead for future campaigns. Go back through your team - while you can, before the data gets deleted. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Write down the players you’ve had. How many of them do you regret? Which ones worked out well? When did you make your transfers? Did you use too many early on and run out? As long as you can recognise the mistakes you made, you're going to become a better manager. </span></p>
<h2 class="p3"><span class="s3">Drafting a starting XI</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Picking an initial team was tough. Bruno Fernandes was surely a must have after his previous season's efforts. He was the second highest points scorer with 268. A returning Cristiano Ronaldo and £97m man Romelu Lukaku, plus the old faithful of Harry Kane and Mo Salah were all going to be scoring week in, week out right? </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">It looked like the strike force was going to be a case of choosing three premiums from four, and meant a lot of money was going on three premium strikers and Bruno, not to mention the defence. A lot of people went for the ‘threemium’ strike force and a lot were disappointed. Lukaku especially a massive failure. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">The previous season had seen a return to strikers leading the way for points, so I’m not surprised it was a popular way to go. It all depends on the game rules and if anything changes, but looking ahead to next season I can see Kane, Salah and Haaland being a popular front three. </span></p>
