Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10 Review

In this weekly article, I’ll be analysing all the key stats from the weekend’s fixtures. I’ll also identify trends both from fixture runs as well as the teams to target as the season progresses.

It’s all about identifying those Sky Fantasy players, and sides, who are going to perform on a consistent basis. Form or fixtures can help us achieve this.

I’ll start by showing which teams earned the most points in Gameweek 10 overall.

A base points per team will be 22 points (two points per starting XI player). From a total league perspective, the base score is 470 points (440 points from starting XI players and 10 Man of the Match performances).

In the last Gameweek we again had two players getting joint men of the match with the actions of Eric Dier and Reguilon at St James Park.

Team Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

A total of 1006 points were scored over the weekend. This is the second highest number of points in a Gameweek so far.

This was mainly due to seven teams keeping a clean sheet and 30 goals being scored.

The standout team was Liverpool who kept a clean sheet as well as put five goals past Watford, it was then Man City and Chelsea who followed next.

Unsurprisingly, Watford were bottom of the pile followed by Burnley and Newcastle, so it really was a weekend where the points stacked up with the traditional league table.

Norwich still remain as the team most likely to give up a large amount of points by quite some distance. The Canaries are now followed by Watford and Arsenal.

Over the previous four Gameweeks, there are three teams who have given up more points than the rest of the division.

Burnley (249), Watford (245) and Norwich (243) look to be teams to potentially target in the coming weeks.

The teams offering up the least points over the previous four weeks are Liverpool (111), Aston Villa (127) and Man City (141).

The graph shows us which teams scored the most bonus points over the weekend and where they came from.

The data above provides us a quick view of who hit the bonus tiers in the Gameweek.

We will also keep running totals so we can identify which players are those bonus magnets we want in our team.

Meanwhile, the table below will show us (specifically for passes and tackles) which players are just short of the level required.

Player Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

Five players hit two different tiers this Gameweek. Pierre Emile Hojberg hit Tier 2 passes and tackles.

Two other Spurs assets also hit two tiers. Oliver Skipp hit Tier 2 passes and Tier 1 tackles, whilst Tanguy Ndombele was joined by Conor Gallagher and Youri Tielemans in hitting Tier 1 in two different categories.

Dan Burn was probably the unluckiest player for bonuses this weekend. He fell one tackle and one pass short of Tier 1 and 4 extra points to go with his clean sheet.

It goes to prove how consistent Brighton are defensively. After the next two fixtures versus Manchester City and Liverpool, they will be firmly on the agenda again.

Bonus Points by Player Season So Far

This chart is beginning to show us who are the dependable picks throughout the season.

As the campaign evolves, we will probably cut the data sample down to the 6-8 previous Gameweeks. This will help us identify who is in form when it comes to bonuses.

If we look at the last four weeks, it is actually Marc Guehi who comes out on top with 11 bonus points. This is one more than Mohamed Salah, Joao Cancelo and Pierre Emile Hojberg.

The good thing about these players (even Salah chipped in with a tackles bonus) is they all score points in a variety of ways.

Bonus Tiers vs Opponents

Tackle and Passing Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

The table above shows the top 20 players for the season in terms of tackles and passes.

In terms of tackles, Tyrick Mitchell (£7m) over the last five games has hit tackles bonus four times, two of which were Tier 2.

Meanwhile, Pierre Emile Hojberg (£8.1m) sits clear on top of the charts. However, nine of the 26 tackles came in the last game vs Newcastle.

The Denmark international had only hit one other tackle tier this season. Yet it’s worth noting he has hit at least two tackles in every game.

In his six appearances, he has hit at least Tier 1 in four of those games.

A few others who have performed well for tackles in the last couple of games are the Everton pair of Ben Godfrey and Lucas Digne. Isaac Hayden is another option if we ever need some Newcastle coverage which seems unlikely.

From a passing bonus perspective, the consistent players from previous seasons are starting to come to the fore.

Players such as Virgil Van Djik, Joao Cancelo and Lewis Dunk are a few prime examples.

A less popular figure, Marc Guehi (£7.2m), could be a good pick considering their run of fixtures after the Man City game.

Another who has been ticking along nicely is Declan Rice. The West Ham midfielder has hit a bonus tier or attacking return in six of the eight games so far. He has also played the full 90 in all matches.

Best Value Picks (points per game per million)

The chart above will become more useful over the course of the season. Nevertheless, it provides us a method of comparing players at different price points.

It purely takes points scored divided by the games these assets have played. This calculates the value they offer in the game. I have discounted players who have only played one game.

Yet it is already starting to show the more consistent players we can perhaps target going forward. It also flags potential assets for any tricky single day games later in the season.

Best Value Goalkeepers – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

As we can see for the goalkeepers, two options are head and shoulders above the rest currently for value.

Edouard Mendy in particular looks a great pick in a Chelsea defence with some great fixtures coming up.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Kepa come in for one game in the near future, just to keep the Spaniard fresh.

Defensively, three Chelsea assets are great value. Yet all come with a massive risk of rotation. It’s also worth noting Ben Chilwell has only played two games so a very small sample size.

Other than that, as mentioned in last weeks article, Aymeric Laporte is right up there for value.

The other option I would consider is Ethan Pinnock if you are looking to spread the budget elsewhere. He will also cover a single captaincy day in the future.

Best Value Midfielders – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

Conor Gallagher is the best value in the game.

There are a plethora of options between £7.8m and £8.7m who are all very similar in value. Any of them seem good options for a position not littered with premium consistency.

It’s worth bearing in mind that other than Gallagher, the top 10 defenders offer better value than the midfield.

Best Value Forwards – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 10

Finally we come to the strikers and obviously Mohamed Salah is in a league of his own. He simply looks essential and fixture proof.

Interestingly, there is no other mega premium in the list. Jamie Vardy has enjoyed a great start to the season and comes in fourth with Son Heung-Min also sneaking into the list.

We can start to notice which teams are the ones to target when it comes to bonus tiers.

The two tables show how many players have hit at least Tier 1 against each opponent.

As picked out last week, Takehiro Tomiyasu managed Tier 2 tackles in the single game day. This prolongs the list of right backs to get it against Crystal Palace.

Unfortunately for me, I went against my own advice after seeing Wilfred Zaha not playing in the game.

The team who have given up the fewest passing and tackling bonus tiers are, unsurprisingly, Man City.

However, the two other teams who only allowed 9 players to achieve bonus are West Ham and Aston Villa.

At the other extreme, the teams giving up the most are Newcastle, Watford and Crystal Palace.

Team Updates – Sky Fantasy Football Tips

Team Review GW10

A below average week for me with only Andreas Christensen, Conor Gallagher and Mohamed Salah providing big points.

No shows from the rested Raphinha and suspended James Ward Prowse didn’t help as well.

Captaincy blanks from Michail Antonio and the transferred in Kieran Tierney were also detrimental. I should have stuck with Conor Gallagher as the captain.

The fixtures have now been released up to the first week in January so we can plan a bit further ahead. It is a good idea to have a rough plan yet also be flexible in what we can do.

Romelu Lukaku picked up an ankle injury during mid-week so that’s another headache to sort out!

In total, 64 points for the Gameweek and a current rank of 2974 is a drop from last week.

I’m still happy enough at this stage with a healthy transfer count. The B team has also improved from last week with 84 points, sitting in at 8k.

Sky Fantasy Football Transfer Plans

Kieran Tierney will likely be transferred out straight away after Friday, hopefully his potential injury is nothing serious.

A second Chelsea defender looks the way to go, especially considering we see the team sheet.

Injury news on Romelu Lukaku will be listened to carefully with a transfer likely needed.

Potential replacements are Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins (if Tierney misses out), Bryan Mbuemo or another defender by going to Joao Cancelo.

Other than that, I’m likely avoiding any more transfers.

GW11 Fixtures

Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 11 Fixture Analysis

Captaincy this week will be Kieran Tierney, depending on injury news, on Friday.

Saturday will hopefully be Romelu Lukaku but may switch to whichever Chelsea defender I bring in. If not, Raphinha looks a good shout.

Sunday is a toss up between Michail Antonio and Mohamed Salah and I may just go with the in form striker against a poor Man Utd defence.
