Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 11 Review

In this weekly article, I’ll be analysing all the key stats from the weekend’s fixtures. I’ll also identify trends both from fixture runs as well as the teams to target as the season progresses.

It’s all about identifying those Sky Fantasy players, and sides, who are going to perform on a consistent basis.

I’ll start by showing which teams earned the most points in Gameweek 11 overall.

A base points per team will be 22 points (two points per starting XI player). From a total league perspective, the base score is 470 points (440 points from starting XI players and 10 Man of the Match performances).

A total of 945 points were scored over the weekend. This is lower than average but not a surprise when two teams scored minus points.

The standout teams were Liverpool and Chelsea both who hammered their opposition with a clean sheet as well, next up was Man City followed by West Ham and Watford, who scored 5 goals themselves.

Unsurprisingly, Norwich and Man Utd were bottom of the pile with negative points closely followed by Everton and Aston Villa, both teams who don’t score bonus points that frequently.

Norwich still remain as the team most likely to give up a large amount of points by quite some distance. The Canaries are now followed by Watford and Burnley.

Over the previous four Gameweeks, there are three teams who have given up more points than the rest of the division. Norwich (315), Man Utd (291) and Watford (240) look to be teams to potentially target in the coming weeks.

The teams offering up the least points over the previous four weeks are Liverpool (85), Chelsea (117) and Man City (120).

The data above provides us a quick view of who hit the bonus tiers in the Gameweek.

We will also keep running totals so we can identify which players are those bonus magnets we want in our team.

Meanwhile, the table below will show us (specifically for passes and tackles) which players are just short of the level required.

Player Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 11

Three players hit two different tiers this Game-week, Mateo Kovacic hit Tier 2 passes and tackles. With Joao Cancelo and Juraj Kucka being the other two, more about the Watford asset later.

One of the weirder things to happen this game week is Robert Sanchez the Brighton goalkeeper was two passes away from hitting passing bonus!

Bonus Points by Player Season So Far

This chart is beginning to show us who are the dependable picks throughout the season.

As the campaign evolves, we will probably cut the data sample down to the 6-8 previous Gameweeks. This will help us identify who is in form when it comes to bonuses.

If we look at the last four weeks, it is actually Pierre Emile Hojberg who comes out on top with 13 bonus points. This is two more than Joao Cancelo and Marc Guehi. Just behind them on 10 points are Joachim Andersen, Lewis Dunk and Mohamed Salah, all who should either be in your team or warrant a lot of thought in the coming weeks.

The good thing about these players (even Salah chipped in with a tackles bonus) is they all score points in a variety of ways.

Tackles and Passes so Far

The table above shows the top 20 players for the season in terms of tackles and passes. I have adapted it to show average per game played to give us a more realistic view.

In terms of tackles we know this is the least reliable of the bonus tiers but a few players are relatively consistent, none more so than the aforementioned Juraj Kucka (£6.5m), they have a tricky run of fixtures coming up but do have a single game day vs Brentford on the 10th December followed by Burnley, Crystal Palace and Wolves, so could be one to bear in mind if you need a captain.

Tyrick Mitchell (£7m) over the last six games has hit tackles bonus four times, two of which were Tier 2.

Meanwhile, Pierre Emile Hojberg (£8.1m), unlike the other two options has potential for passing tiers. sits clear on top of the charts. However, nine of the 26 tackles came in the last game vs Newcastle.

Further down the list Dwight McNeil and Mateo Kovacic are two of interest who offer some attacking potential, the Burnley asset from mid December has some decent fixtures who is another option in that £7.5-£8m midfield bracket.

From a passing bonus perspective, the consistent players from previous seasons are starting to come to the fore. It comes as no surprise that of the 17 players who average more than 60 passes, 11 come from Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea.

Pierre Emile Hojberg currently also averages above the tier requirement, the double Brighton defence of Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster are both over the threshold, with one of them likely to come into my team in the near future, Webster is better value but it will just come down to whether he is back from injury and nailed in the team like Dunk is.

A less popular figure, Marc Guehi (£7.2m), could be a good pick considering their run of fixtures after the Man City game. Raphael Varane also interests me once he is back from injury if he can shore up the Man Utd defence with an extremely good run of fixtures in December as a potential differential to the likely popular choice of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The chart above will become more useful over the course of the season. Nevertheless, it provides us a method of comparing players at different price points.

It purely takes points scored divided by the games these assets have played. This calculates the value they offer in the game. I have discounted players who have only played one game.

Yet it is already starting to show the more consistent players we can perhaps target going forward. It also flags potential assets for any tricky single day games later in the season.

As ever the defensive options offer the best value overall, specifically the Chelsea options who occupy five of the top 10 spaces.

Goalkeepers currently looks to be between Edouard Mendy and Aaron Ramsdale, with personal preference for me being the Chelsea stopper, although word of warning he will be going to the African Cup of Nations in January so something to bear in mind.

Midfielders continues to be much of a likeness for those £7.5-£8m options, although Phil Foden has rocketed to the top of the list after his last few performances, and something to bear in mind with Man City options, of the next 12 games where we know kick off times, 8 of them we will get to see the City teamsheet which could lead us to captain them more than usual.

Strikers Mohamed Salah continues to do Salah things. Two options who have performed well recently are Callum Wilson who has now scored in his last two games and a favourable set of fixtures due to start soon as well as Joshua King although would want to see more consistency before contemplating any move. The issue with all these options however is lack of space given most will have Mohamed Salah as a mainstay.

The two tables show how many players have hit at least Tier 1 against each opponent.

From a passing perspective Norwich, Newcastle and Watford have given up passing bonus in 6 of their 9 fixtures so far, with Arsenal, Everton and Burnley doing the same in five games.

Interestingly across the two different bonuses it is Aston Villa who give up the combined fewest.

Team Updates – Sky Fantasy Football Tips

Team Review GW11

A below average week for me again with only four real returns from Michail Antonio and Mohamed Salah and luckily my two transfers in Antonio Rudiger and Youri Tielemans providing big points.

No shows from the injured Kieran Tierney meant I had no captaincy on Friday night, getting to see the Chelsea teamsheet on Saturday helped in my decision to bring in Rudiger and put the armband on him.

With question marks over Romelu Lukaku I could have gone sideways to Harry Kane, but knowing I want to switch James Ward Prowse to a Brighton defender soon it had to be a midfielder and after flirting with Bryan Mbuemo luckily I got the call right with the consistent Belgian.

In total, 98 points for the Gameweek and a current rank of 3392 is a drop of 400 places from last week.

I’m still happy enough at this stage with a healthy transfer count. The B team has also dropped from last week with 82 points, sitting in at 11k.

Sky Fantasy Football Transfer Plans

No plans for any transfers this week hopefully Andreas Christensen will be in the side for these fixtures but he is an issue I am likely going to have to deal with in the next few weeks.

I have actually put together a rough plan (can’t expect that to stick with so many injuries) all the way up to January which would see me use 9 transfers the first being the mentioned Ward Prowse to Dunk/Webster move after the game next Friday.

A second Chelsea defender looks the way to go, especially considering we see the team sheet.

GW12 Fixtures

Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 12 Fixture Analysis

Captaincy this week will be Mohamed Salah on Saturday, no point getting to tricky at this stage.

Sunday is a toss up between Michail Antonio and Raphinha and I may just go with the Leeds asset as we will get to see the team and he is up against a poor Norwich outfit.

Monday will be Jose Sa he is a decent enough option at the price but another who I plan to transfer out at the start of December
