Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 15 Review

In this weekly article, I’ll be analysing all the key stats from the weekend’s fixtures. I’ll also identify trends both from fixture runs as well as the teams to target as the season progresses.

It’s all about identifying those Sky Fantasy players, and sides, who are going to perform on a consistent basis.

I’ll start by showing which teams earned the most points in Gameweek 15 overall.

A base points per team will be 22 points (two points per starting XI player).

From a total league perspective, the base score is 470 points (440 points from starting XI players and 10 Man of the Match performances).

Team Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

A total of 1010 points were scored over the weekend which is the highest of the season so far.

The standout teams were the big three in Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea who all won and kept clean sheets.

Next up was Wolves followed by Aston Villa and Watford.

Points Conceded YTD

Team Points Conceded – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

Norwich still remain as the team most likely to give up a large amount of points by quite some distance. The Canaries are now followed by Watford and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, the teams offering up the least points over the previous four weeks are Liverpool (109), Chelsea (52) and Southampton (138).

On the other hand, the worst performing teams over the same four weeks are Man Utd (289), Everton (279) and Norwich (267).

Crystal Palace, Burnley and Leeds are teams who were giving away lots of points in the first eight weeks, but have improved considerably over the last four.

Gameweek 15 Bonus Points

The data above provides us a quick view of who hit the bonus tiers in the Gameweek.

We will also keep running totals so we can identify which players are those bonus magnets we want in our team.

Meanwhile, the table below will show us (specifically for passes and tackles) which players are just short of the level required.

Player Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

Four players hit two different tiers this Gameweek. N’Golo Kante, Kalvin Phillips and Bernardo Silva all hit tackles and shot bonus giving them five bonus points this weekend (ignoring MOTM).

However, special mention has to go Alisson who not only hit Tier 1 Saves, but he also hit Tier 1 passing as well!

Add this to his goal last year and he is becoming a threat across the board!

Popular picks such as Declan Rice, Adam Webster and Reece James were all 1 tackle from adding to their points totals, alongside Bernardo Silva.

Bonus Points by Player Season So Far

This chart is beginning to show us who are the dependable picks throughout the season.

As the campaign evolves, we will probably cut the data sample down to the 6-8 previous Gameweeks. This will help us identify who is in form when it comes to bonuses.

As we can see, Joao Cancelo now tops the bonus points and is gaining a slight edge over his fellow competitors.

If we look at the last four weeks, Joao Cancelo tops the points charts with 15 closely followed by Thiago Silva on 14.

Other notable names are Declan Rice who has gained 12 bonus points.

Virgil Van Djik, Tim Krul and Pierre Emile Hojberg are next with 10 points alongside an interesting pick in Christian Norgaard (£6.2m) from Brentford.

With a single game day coming up, he could become an option. He has picked up bonus points for shots, passes and tackles in the last four games and is extremely cheap.

However, a word of caution as he is sat on four yellow cards so one more means he will miss a game through suspension.

Tackles and Passes so Far

Tackling Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

The table above shows the top 20 players for the season in terms of tackles and passes. I have adapted it to show averages per game played to give us a more accurate view.

This is the Top 20 over the whole season but I have just shown the previous six game weeks of data.

In terms of tackles, we know this is the least reliable of the bonus tiers but a few players are relatively consistent.

If we look over the last six weeks, Declan Rice has hit a tackle bonus in four games. Connor Gallagher, Lucas Digne and Emerson Royal have all hit a tackle tier in half the games.

Most interestingly, the latter has also missed out by one tackle in two of the other games. If Spurs start keeping clean sheets, and he maintains some attacking threat, Emerson could be one to keep an eye on.

Passing Bonus Points – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

From a passing bonus perspective, the consistent players from previous seasons are starting to come to the fore.

It comes as no surprise that 14 players in the top 20 are from Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea.

Of the other six, four represent the two other sides who do well for passing bonus in Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Luke Ayling is still injured while Pierre Emile Hojberg is a decent shout. This is especially the case if you are swerving Harry Kane given his lacklustre form.

One who interests me a little further down is Bernardo Silva (£8.5m).

He has hit at least Tier 1 passing bonus in five of the last seven games and is looking an attacking threat going forward.

Bernardo could be an effective differential at 7% ownership in the Top 1k.

Best Value Picks (points per game per million)

Best Value Players – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

The chart above will become more useful over the course of the season. Nevertheless, it provides us a method of comparing players at different price points.

It takes points scored divided by the games these assets have played. This calculates the value they offer in the game. I have discounted players who have only played one game.

Yet it is already starting to show the more consistent players we can perhaps target going forward. It also flags potential assets for any tricky single day games later in the season.

The two things I have noted is the utter dominance of Chelsea defenders for value this year. Also, only six non defenders would get into the Top 10 for value.

It’s definitely something I will take away from this season and look to implement in one of my teams next season. Big at the back is currently the way to go!

Tier Bonus Allowed by Team

The two tables show how many players have hit at least Tier 1 against each opponent.

From a passing perspective, Watford have given up passing bonus in nine of their 12 fixtures so far, with Newcastle, Norwich and Everton doing the same in eight games.

Although the passing table above does show us patterns, you have to dig a little deeper into the stats.

For example, both Arsenal and Chelsea have conceded passing bonus to 11 players in just two games. Yet both teams were down to ten men for half a game which skews the statistics.

Ultimately, the teams to target appear to be Norwich, Newcastle, Everton and Watford.

Interestingly, across the two different bonuses it is Liverpool and Man City who give up the fewest (15 and 16) but then it is Burnley and Aston Villa (17) and Leeds (18) who sit next in line.

Team Updates – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

Team Review GW15

An above average week for me again with captaincy returns from Mohamed Salah (24 points) and Joao Cancelo (26).

Antonio Rudider also chipped in with a goal and clean sheet to go alongside new recruit Ivan Toney. The Brentford striker bagged a goal and hit Tier 2 shots bonus.

Two no shows in the form of Ruben Dias and Raphinha isn’t too concerning at the moment.

I’m happy enough to hold Harry Kane over this decent run of fixtures for Spurs. Declan Rice also returned one point but he’s a good asset going into this Christmas period.

Jose Sa finally kept a clean sheet, so hopefully he can get another one before he gets moved on. Connor Gallagher and Lewis Dunk continue to tick over nicely for their price.

In total, 99 points for the Gameweek and a current rank of 1786 is a rise of 200 places from last week.

With a healthy transfer count, I’m relatively happy at this stage. The B team dropped from last week with 65 points, sitting in around 10k.

Transfer Plans – Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16

I’m planning to move Jose Sa on for Aaron Ramsdale after the Wednesday game.

After that, two more moves I am looking at are moving Ruben Dias onto a cheaper defender to then afford an upgrade from Ivan Toney, after his single game day, up to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Annoyingly, I am £0.1m short of getting Marcos Alonso who looks assured in the left wing-back role after Ben Chilwell’s injury.

I still have a couple of weeks to contemplate my options to assess how Manchester United look under Ralf Rangnick.

At this point, if you don’t already use Ian Parrin’s spreadsheet, it is an essential tool which helps you plan out future moves and ensure you have the appropriate budget for them.

Defenders I have on my radar, in no particular order, are: Marc Guehi, Trent Alexander Arnold, Reece James, Matty Cash, Adam Webster and Emerson Royal.

Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 16 Fixture Analysis

Captaincy this week covers five days so don’t forget to set them early just in case.

Saturday is a no brainer and has to be Mohamed Salah. My other options are Conor Gallagher, Jose Sa and Lewis Dunk.

The one I would usually favour is the Brighton centre back. However, he is up against a Leeds team who have only allowed one player to get passing bonus this year (Joel Matip).

Sunday is a bit more open. Joao Cancelo is probably the favourite due to seeing the team sheet and being so reliable for passing.

I am happy enough just owning Harry Kane currently and not knowing the Chelsea team puts me off their assets.

Ivan Toney against a poor Everton team could do extremely well but I’m happy enough just owning him.

On Tuesday, I have two options in Raphinha and Conor Gallagher. I’m tempted by the Palace midfielder because of the various ways he can score and he could score in such an open game on paper.

For Wednesday, operation target Everton will lead me to go for Mohamed Salah.

Thursday I will probably plump for Harry Kane against a leaky Brentford rather than Toney or new recruit Ramsdale.
