<p><strong>Weekly summary</strong></p>
<p>Another interesting weekend for both the top and bottom of the league. Arsenal looked like they were on the verge of a mini slump but an injury winner was a huge boost.</p>
<p>This was followed by a draw by Manchester City which was a huge shock. Manchester United's good run continues and seem to still be in with a shout of challenging for the title.</p>
<p>Liverpool's win at Newcastle suggests there is going to be a fierce battle for that fourth spot.</p>
<p>Nobody is dead and buried at the bottom of the league, with Southampton's shock win at Chelsea, and Bournemouth and Everton both winning 1-0.</p>

<p><strong>Sky team of the week</strong></p>
<p>The top scorer in Sky for the last game week was 136 points (which may have been aided with a few transfers). My team of the week scores 158 and is:</p>

<p><strong>Bonus points</strong></p>
<p>The bonus points achieved by each team this week is:</p>

<p>The bonus awards were dominated by the big teams. Southampton picked up several tackles away to Chelsea while Wolves picked up passing awards home to Bournemouth. Three teams only picked up a single award, Newcastle (man sent off), Notts Forest (played Man City) and Bournemouth.</p>
<p>The bonus for the season is:</p>

<p>Manchester City continue to have a lead over Liverpool with their passing bonus accounting for a significant percentage. There is step change to Brighton and a steady decline thereafter. Brentford and Notts Forest seem to be fighting it out for the wooden spoon.</p>
<p>The distribution of bonus award is:</p>

<p>30% of awards come from passing, 31% tackling, 23% shooting and 16% from saves.</p>
<p>The above statistics is on the number of bonuses a team achieves; the next chart is about the number of bonuses a team concedes.</p>

<p>Brighton have been the surprise performers this season, and this has been reflected in them being the second hardest team to score bonus points against (Manchester City are the hardest).</p>
<p>West Ham have given up the most passing awards, and Spurs are the second worst team at giving up bonus.</p>

<p>Rodri (Manchester City midfielder £9.1m) has a clear lead at the top. Several of the top ten are from players outside the big six (David Raya, Joao Palhinha, Adams, T, Dunk, L, Leno, B and Mac Allister, A), two of whom are goalkeepers.</p>
<p>The two Brighton lads are worth monitoring, because after the League Cup final they will have three games in hand over several teams.</p>
<p>A metric to find the best valued players is the number of points scored divided by cost and number of games played. The tables below give the top 10 for each position (having made at least ten appearances).</p>
<p>Some players may be injured such as Neto, but these players could be useful when looking for enablers or requiring some short-term changes.</p>

<p><strong>Bonus points for coming week</strong></p>
<p>The table below summarises the average bonus points scored and conceded per team per game.</p>

<p>If teams to their average a basic prediction of points by bonus this week would be:</p>

<p>The table gives the expected points each team will score by bonus type. The percentage is how this compares to the team’s average.</p>
<p>For example, Man City score 18.1 passing points whereas they have average 9.3, the 18.1 is 93% higher than the Man City’s average.</p>
<p>For each set of projected points and percentages, I have highlighted the highest number green, the second highest blue and the third highest light red.</p>
<p>If you are unsure between two captains, then this should be helpful in deciding who is more likely to achieve bonus and edge the captaincy choice.</p>
