Sky Fantasy Football Gameweek 31 Preview

Gameweek 31 is a five game day week. Just the three matches on Saturday, a whopping six on Sunday and then a single game day on Monday, followed by two on Wednesday and ending with possibly one of the worst single game days on Thursday.

Saturday is simple enough. Liverpool travel to the Amex for the lunchtime kick off. If Mohamed Salah starts then I suspect he’ll be the most popular captain.

Brentford v Burnley is of little interest to me and the evening kick off sees Manchester United v Spurs. I suppose you may consider Harry Kane or Son Heung-min as captain over Salah but I still think it’s risky. Although with a bit of a stagnant leaderboard, maybe it’s time to take the odd risk or two.

There are plenty of games on Sunday and the bonus for Sky Fantasy Football managers is we can see the team news in five of them. Chelsea at home to Newcastle will probably be the main point of focus. The Chelsea increased ownership will likely see most managers captaining one of Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva or Reece James.

Just the one game on Monday - Crystal Palace v Manchester City. The drop in ownership of Aymeric Laporte and Conor Gallagher means many are just left with Joao Cancelo for Monday. I really hope he starts, or it could mean many are without a captain.

Wednesday is interesting: Brighton v Spurs and Arsenal v Liverpool. Again most will likely be on Salah, but Kane at least provides a different option.

Thursday is the killer for me - Everton v Newcastle. No offence to either set of supporters but it’s not awash with options. Allan Saint-Maximin is probably the standout.

Everton have been dreadful, and whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison could do bits, do I really want to use a transfer on them?
