<h2>Introduction</h2>
<p>My playing style in Sky Fantasy Football falls into the 'conservative with a small c' category. Planning when to use my annual 40 transfer allocation throughout the season has been a key part in any success I have enjoyed over the past years.</p>
<p>With Sky deciding that the first Overhaul would be best placed between Gameweeks 3 and 4 - I can see some of the reasons why they have done this, although my preference would have been to place it during the second International Break in early October - this does give an opportunity to plan a team for only the first three Gameweeks using no transfers at all.</p>
<p>So now we have the premise for picking a team, what factors do managers need to take into account before selecting their chosen XI?</p>
<p>In this regard, the game does not change very much at all. You want to select a team capable of being top of the leaderboard going into Gameweek 4 by maximising its points potential pre-Overhaul. Four things need to be considered in roughly equal quantities:</p>
<ol>
<li>Picking the 11 players likely (in your opinion) to score the most points.</li>
<li>Ensuring those eleven fit into the budget allocation of £100M and in an allowed formation.</li>
<li>Having potential double point captaincy options available for all fixture days.</li>
<li>Being aware that any potentially highly owned players that are not in your team could adversely affect your ranking - especially if they are likely to be popular captains.</li>

<h2>Fixtures and Planning</h2>
<p>The fixtures for the first three Gameweeks are split into 8 fixture days (FDs)</p>
<p><strong>3 in Gameweek 1</strong> - Friday 13th August, Saturday 14th August &amp; Sunday 15th August</p>
<p><strong>3 in Gameweek 2</strong> - Saturday 21st August, Sunday 22nd August &amp; Monday 23rd August</p>
<p><strong>2 in Gameweek 3</strong> - Saturday 28th August &amp; Sunday 29th August</p>
<p>The <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/ian-parrins-sky-transfer-toolkit/">Condensed Calendar tab on my planner</a> shows these in an easily readable format, as shown here:</p>

<p>Looking at teams from which I would want to captain a player more than once,  three stand out: Liverpool on FDs 2 &amp; 4, Manchester United on FDs 5 &amp; 8, and West Ham on FDs 3 &amp; 6.</p>
<p>So looking at the players, who should we be selecting? The table below shows Bruno Fernandes and Mohamed Salah are the stand out options for the East Lancs Road rivals based on points scored last season.</p>

<p>Currently in second spot in the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">Hub's attacking fixture ticker</a> for the trio of pre-Overhaul games are West Ham.</p>

<p>David Moyes side have also been showing decent pre-season attacking form - with Michail Antonio (3 Goals &amp; 1 Assist) to the fore - so the Hammers striker takes the third dual-captaincy option in our team.</p>

<p>For premium non-captaincy options, then the place to look is in defence for teams with reasonable chances of  clean sheets combined with players with potential to get additional points (attacking returns or bonuses) along the way.</p>
