The organisers of Sky Sports Fantasy Football have confirmed the popular game will not return in the 2024/25 season.
A statement was released via their Twitter account on Tuesday (July 9), just weeks before the new Premier League season is set to begin. It read:
<blockquote>&#8220;After an amazing 15 years and engaging well over 1,000,000 players in that time, we have taken the difficult decision not to run Sky Sports Fantasy Football (Sky FF) for the upcoming 2024/25 domestic football campaign.
&#8220;The passion for Sky FF has always been fantastic and it has been a pleasure watching the community grow, while working with us on the game.
&#8220;We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has played and supported the game over the last 15 years.&#8221;</blockquote>
The news will be a devastating blow for many fantasy managers, with many rating it as the most enjoyable format.
A top prize of £50,000 for the overall winner also gave players an added incentive to take part.
Fantasy Football Hub has been the game&#8217;s biggest champion in recent years, with significant focus on the format.
Hub founder Will Thomas wrote a Sky blog before the site as it is today was born.

Another ex-winner, Dan Cox, has previewed each gameweek and exclusively revealed his team and transfer plans for members.
Liam Dorrian, who won in 2019/20, also wrote articles and appeared on our podcast, as did other winners like Mark Wisdish and experienced Sky managers.
Fixtures expert Ian Parrin built a Sky planner &#8211; as well as a similar tool for Telegraph Fantasy Football fans &#8211; that was used by multiple champions in their winning seasons.
And our editor Oli Poole&#8217;s first involvement with the site was writing Sky differential pieces in his spare time.
Sky has therefore been a significant part of our history &#8211; and we are very sad that it will not be returning this season.
A lot of people will be feeling the same, which was recognised by Fergi in a voice note to the brilliant members of our Sky WhatsApp community.
Issuing advice for existing Sky members, he said:
<blockquote>&#8220;We are absolutely devastated here at the Hub as I&#8217;m sure everyone who knows is and those finding out now will also be. Hopefully it will be back.
&#8220;In terms of our chats, which we all love being a part of, we would ask you to give us a bit of time to process the information and work out how we move forward.
&#8220;We want to continue to give our members the best fantasy football tips, value for money and place to engage. We just need to work out what that looks like given the news. We really appreciate your continued support and loyalty. We will provide further information as soon as possible.&#8221;</blockquote>
With Sky such a valued part of our service, much of our planned pre-season content had included helpful <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> for Sky managers.
As well as Fantasy Premier League (FPL), we also cover Telegraph and Sun Dream Team, which have some similarities with the Sky game.
We will now be rewriting our upcoming content, however the remaining major fantasy formats continue to be part of our plans.

Telegraph and Dream Team share some similarities with Sky, with Telegraph requiring plenty of planning to optimise transfer use.
FPL tweeted this week that their game was &#8216;coming soon&#8217;, so it will not be long before we have at least one Premier League fantasy game to look forward to.

We share your disappointment that this chapter of fantasy football has ended &#8211; and we hope the organisers of Sky will see how much the game means to us all and reconsider their decision in future seasons.
