Johann Berg Gudmundsson also featured for over an hour, but neither player will be considered for the trip to Elland Road. The Clarets remain "hopeful" that Robbie Brady can recover in time to face Leeds, while Dwight McNeil continues to be assessed. "We are waiting on news, so we will wait and see." Matej Vydra has "tweaked" a muscle in his back, but the forward should be okay. "We just have a couple of niggly ones which are touch and go, but at this stage, we are not thinking they are too serious."

Carlo Ancelotti insists Everton can have "no regrets" after two-late goals by Manchester United knocked the Toffees out of the Carabao Cup. The Italian named a strong side making only three changes from the win over Arsenal which included a first start in over a month for Seamus Coleman following his recovery from a hamstring strain. Andre Gomes was also back in the starting XI having overcome his own minor muscle problem. “It was a good performance; we defended well, properly. We had a difficult start, but after 20 minutes the game was under control. We didn’t play attacking football, but we needed to defend, and until the last three minutes, we defended well." The defeat was compounded by the loss of Richarlison who clashed headed with Eric Bailly just before the hour mark leaving the Brazilian looking a bit groggy. "He is fine now," Ancelotti said post-match. "We are going to check him in the next few days and see what is going on. But he was okay after the game. Our doctor had total control of the situation and wanted to take him off."
