Who are the best Aston Villa FPL players for the 2024/25 season?

<h2>Best Aston Villa FPL players 2024/25: Ollie Watkins (£9.0m)</h2>
Watkins is a talismanic figure for Villa &#8211; and comfortably their best FPL option.
With 19 goals and 18 assists last season, he led the Premier League for goal involvements. No one set up more goals.
He was the third highest scoring player in the game, racking up 228 points. He ranked top among forwards, with only Phil Foden and Cole Palmer ahead of his points tally.
This was without being on penalties, something he has an outside chance of this season given Douglas Luiz has left the club.
Watkins&#8217; goals were vital in helping his team qualify for the Champions League. He was involved in 49% of Villa&#8217;s goals while he was on the pitch &#8211; a percentage not matched by any other player.
And he was rarely off it. He averaged 87 minutes over his 37 league appearances, missing just one game.
His 2023/24 performances have made Watkins a popular early pick. He was second behind Alexander Isak at the time of writing, in 54.6% of teams.
But can he sustain his levels?

In terms of his underlying data, his expected goals (xG) of 16.74 was not far behind his 19 goals.
But it was a different story when it came to expected assists (xA) of 4.02, significantly below his 18 actual assists.
On the face of it, this looks like an unsustainable trend.
But while assisting 18 again could be difficult, his over-performance may look worse than it actually was, with fantasy assists such as rebounded shots and penalties won skewing the figures.
The Villa forward leads the way among Villa players for <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">predicted points</a> over the first four gameweeks of the season.
Hub AI ranks him 18th among all players in this period and the sixth best forward.
The Hub&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">customisable fixture ticker</a> places the Villans in ninth for overall fixture difficulty in the early stages, with West Ham (A) and Arsenal (H) their first two matches.
They improve significantly from Gameweek 3 though and Emery&#8217;s men have the best fixture run between Gameweek 3 and 9.
Watkins should be fit in time for Gameweek 1 following a break after his England Euro 2024 duties but keep an eye on our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/premier-league-predicted-lineups">predicted lineups and team news article</a> in the run-up to the deadline.

<h2>Best Aston Villa FPL players 2024/25: Leon Bailey (£6.5m)</h2>
Bailey was another Villa player who had an excellent 2023/24 campaign.
He scored 10 and assisted 11 &#8211; more than doubling his returns of the previous season &#8211; and was the second most involved player in his team&#8217;s goals (31%).
His xA of 7.17 was the best in the Villa squad, while his 6.29 xG was behind only Watkins and the now departed Moussa Diaby when taking penalties out of the equation.
The Jamaican has grown into an important part of Unai Emery&#8217;s attack, making 35 appearances and putting historic fitness issues behind him.

Time on the pitch still remains a potential drawback, with Bailey averaging just 59 minutes per appearance. He did however manage 76 minutes per start.
Champions League rotation could affect his game time this season, although it&#8217;s important to note that Villa did have European football to contend with last season.
New signings have largely focused on strengthening other areas of the pitch, with the likes of Samuel Iling-Junior and Jaden Philogene preferring the left-hand side.
Bailey ranks second among teammates for predicted points, with his 19.1 over the first four games just over a point short of Watkins.
Hub AI rates him as the second best midfielder at his price point behind Christopher Nkunku.

<h2>Best Aston Villa FPL players 2024/25: Ezri Konsa (£4.5m)</h2>
Konsa currently represents the best-value route into the Villa defence.
Villa goalkeeeper Emiliano Martinez (£5.0m) is the club&#8217;s top defensive option in predicted points terms.
But Konsa comes in at £0.5m cheaper, funds that could be crucial when slotting in the game&#8217;s premium picks.
The England international scored one and assisted one last season, with his 2.56 xG bettered only by Matty Cash (£4.5m) among Villa defenders.
But it&#8217;s price and security of minutes which elevates him above the other options as things stand.
Later on in the season, Ian Maatsen (£5.0m) could emerge as the best backline bet, however the new big-money has competition at left-back and cannot currently be described as nailed.
Villa kept eight clean sheets last season, ranking midtable for expected goals conceded (xGC).
They rank top of the <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">Hub&#8217;s fixture ticker</a> between Gameweek 3 and 9 from a defensive perspective as well as an overall one.
