<h2>Best penalty takers in FPL</h2>
FPL managers know penalty-takers can be worth their weight in gold in the battle for fantasy football supremacy.
Around 75% of Premier League penalties awarded since the start of last season have been converted (81 of 108), so takers always have an edge.
For those on the lookout for a lethal penalty-taker, here <a href="https://www.squawka.com/">Squawka</a> reveals the best and worst player conversion rates since the start of the 2022-23 season.
We only considered players who took a minimum of three spot-kicks over that period.

<h3>Erling Haaland (Manchester City)</h3>

</ul>
Given how lethal he has been overall, it is unsurprising to learn Haaland boasts an unblemished record from the penalty spot in the Premier League.
Manchester City’s number nine has been successful with all seven of his attempts from 12 yards, providing even more reason for him to be the first name on your team sheet.

Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)

Mac Allister was equally clinical for Brighton last season, netting all six of his penalties.
Although he is unlikely to be the first-choice taker at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah’s modest record from the spot in recent times  may potentially push him up the pecking order at Anfield.
Mac Allister has only missed one Premier League penalty out of nine &#8211; back at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Benrahma is not a popular choice for FPL managers but his perfect record from the spot is worth consideration.
Since the start of last season, the West Ham forward has been successful with all four of his penalties.
He could well have improved that tally had he been on the pitch when Michail Antonio (£6.0m) slotted home from 12 yards against Chelsea in Gameweek 2.

Honourable mentions go to Callum Wilson (£7.9m) and Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m) – both of whom also boast unblemished records from the penalty spot since the start of last season, scoring all three of their attempts.
<h2>Worst penalty takers in FPL</h2>
On the other end of the spectrum, here are the three players with the worst records since the start of last season.
We have only included players who have taken three penalties.
<h3>James Ward-Prowse (West Ham United)</h3>

<li aria-level="1">Price: £6.0m</li>
<li aria-level="1">Teams selected by %: 1.3</li>
</ul>
Some readers will be surprised to see Ward-Prowse feature in the bottom three, given his expertise with in dead-ball situations.
Pretty much everything that could go wrong for Southampton did last season as they were relegated from the Premier League – including their skipper’s inconsistency from 12 yards.
Ward-Prowse missed spot-kicks against Leicester and Everton on the way down, as well as blazing one over the bar in pre-season against Goztepe.
Conversely, West Ham’s new signing scored more free kicks (three) than penalties in the league in 2022/23.

</ul>
Last season marked the first time in three years Salah failed to reach the 20 goal mark in the Premier League.
That would not have been the case had he converted two missed penalty attempts against Arsenal and Bournemouth. 
More recently, he failed to score from the spot against the Cherries (again) in Gameweek 2 of the new season.

Goals did not come too easily last season for Forest, who just about survived an immediate return to the Championship.
Steve Cooper’s side also scored just three of their six penalties, with two of those misses coming from Johnson’s three attempts – against Brighton and Wolves.
The Wales international will be determined to improve his record this term.

A dishonourable mention goes to Aleksandar Mitrovic, who missed more penalties than any other player in this data sample &#8211; four from eight.
The former Fulham striker does not make the list above, given his move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.
