<h2>How Liverpool performed in the 2021/22 Premier League season:</h2>
Jurgen Klopp&#8217;s Liverpool side finished on 92 points last time out, just one point behind champions Manchester City.
They also won the FA and League Cup, reaching the Champions League final along the way &#8211; but it&#8217;s the Premier League we want to focus on here.
The Reds consistently present us with a plethora of explosive Fantasy Premier League options, and 2021/22 was no different.
In fact, last season, five of the top ten point scorers in FPL were Liverpool players.

<h2>The best Liverpool FPL players: Mohamed Salah (£13.0m)</h2>
Three-time Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah is still the only player in the history of Fantasy Premier League to hit 300 points in a single season.
History aside, Salah was also the top scoring FPL player in 2021/22, with 265 points.
The Egyptian shared the Golden Boot with Son Heung-min (£12.0m), and will be looking to retain his crown in the coming season.
With Sadio Mané now a Bayern Munich player, Salah is undoubtedly the main man in attack for Liverpool.
He has little competition in the right-wing spot, with versatile youngster Harvey Elliott (£5.0m) the only like-for-like replacement for Jurgen Klopp.
While Luis Diaz (£8.0m), Darwin Nunez (£9.0m), and Diogo Jota (£9.0m) all remain excellent FPL options on the basis of their attacking threat, their minutes will sometimes be in question, as Klopp looks to utilise every member of his talented squad.
This simply isn&#8217;t a worry for Mo Salah. As long as he is fit, he is almost guaranteed to play every Premier League game.
We are yet to see the real impact of the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/three-big-things-that-will-change-fpl-in-2022-23/">five substitutions rule</a>, but even if Klopp opts to use all five of them, you would still expect Salah to get 70 minutes minimum in the majority of games.
He is of course the designated penalty taker, adding five goals from the spot last season &#8211; a nice bonus for any FPL asset, but especially one you&#8217;ll be captaining often.
Speaking of which, Liverpool&#8217;s opening <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-fixture-release-reaction-bigmanbakar">fixtures</a> look very much captaincy-worthy.
The Reds play Fulham, Bournemouth, and Everton in their first six &#8211; all fixtures which Salah will be eyeing up for multiple goals.

<h2>The best Liverpool FPL players: Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m)</h2>
You&#8217;ve had the top scoring midfielder in FPL, now how about the top scoring defender?
With 208 points last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold produced 14 attacking returns alongside his 18 clean sheets, so it&#8217;s no wonder he clinched top spot.

The England man is Liverpool&#8217;s primary source of creativity, and a huge number of the goals they score come as a result of his range of passing.
In FPL terms, he offers clean sheets, goals from direct free-kicks and open play, and most importantly, monstrous assist threat.
In fact, if we look at <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl/">expected assists (xA)</a> last season, it&#8217;s clear that Trent&#8217;s creativity is on another level to that of any other defender in the league.

Given his £7.5m price-tag, Alexander-Arnold looks like a player you&#8217;d be foolish to go without.
The only argument I could see for not owning him is that you can save around £3.0m in defence, and open up one of your three Liverpool slots.
The Reds have been leaking goals in pre-season, so the potential is there to ignore the defence and triple up on Liverpool attack, taking a punt on someone like Darwin Nunez, who scored four goals in one pre-season match last week, alongside midfielders Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
In truth though, this feels like a stretch.
Trent is offering greater attacking threat than any other defender, playing for one of the best teams in the league, with great fixtures to start. What&#8217;s not to like?

<h2>The best Liverpool FPL players: Andy Robertson (£7.0m)</h2>
Scotland captain Andy Robertson is an incredible FPL asset, and one that it&#8217;s difficult to ignore for Gameweek 1.
As much as it&#8217;s tempting to take a punt on Luis Diaz or Darwin Nunez, the Scotsman is the third Liverpool player in my team right now.
For many of the same reasons as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Robertson is simply invaluable, boasting various different routes to points.
This includes taking plenty of corners and free-kicks, which is generally rare for a defender.
From Gameweek 13 onwards, Robertson notched an incredible 13 attacking returns, plus 14 clean sheets, totalling 160 FPL points &#8211; all in just 21 appearances!
That&#8217;s around 8 points a game, which is almost unheard of from any FPL asset.
If he can maintain that form over the course of a season, you are looking at record breaking numbers in terms of FPL points.

Whilst there is a threat of rotation from Kostas Tsimikas (£4.5m), I still expect Robertson to start the vast majority of games.
Even if he is substituted, there&#8217;s a very good chance it&#8217;s after the 60 minute mark, by which time his clean sheet is already banked.
With the recent news of an injury to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker (£5.5m) however, you might not fancy the double-up on the Reds&#8217; defence.

<h2>Honourable Mentions: Luis Diaz (£8.0m)</h2>
Not selecting Luis Diaz for my Gameweek 1 team is going to take some serious restraint on my part.
The Colombian made a flying start to life on Merseyside, notching seven attacking returns in his first half-season with the Reds.
Plenty of FPL managers will be jumping on him, as £8.0m is a great price, and there is even news of a hamstring injury to Diogo Jota (£9.0m), which should mean less competition for Diaz.

Despite the injury to Jota however, there is still a threat of rotation in the short-term.
Fabio Carvalho (£5.5m) is surely in line for some minutes after an extremely impressive pre-season, and Darwin Nunez could move out to the left wing too if Roberto Firmino (£9.0m) is playing at centre-forward.
This is part of why I haven&#8217;t favoured the Colombian, but in truth, a lot of it comes down to your personal squad structure.
If you have room in your squad for an £8.0m midfielder, and you don&#8217;t have three Liverpool players, then Diaz is undeniably a great pick.

<h2>Honourable Mentions: Darwin Nunez (£9.0m)</h2>
For me, there is every chance that Liverpool&#8217;s new signing Darwin Nunez will be shoehorned into all of our teams come Gameweek 2.
Playing as the first choice striker for the Reds, with Diogo Jota out injured, the Uruguayan could very easily stick a hat-trick past Fulham and no-one would bat an eyelid.
I still wouldn&#8217;t expect him to get 90 minutes however, as Roberto Firmino remains at the club, fit and ready for the new season.
The <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/three-big-things-that-will-change-fpl-in-2022-23/">five substitutes rule</a> is one reason I am considering staying away from Liverpool attackers outside of Salah, as there is clearly plenty of competition for Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

For now, I&#8217;m going with Salah, Alexander-Arnold, and Robertson as my three FPL picks from Liverpool.
