<p>Nottingham Forest will make a return to the Premier League in the 2022/23 season after a 23 year absence from the top flight.</p>
<p>After securing promotion via the Championship playoffs, Forest fans can look forward to watching their side in the Premier League once again.</p>
<p>But who are their best FPL assets? We explore the top three assets in this article.</p>

<h2>How Nottingham Forest performed in the 2021/22 Championship season</h2>
<p>Forest finished the 46 game Championship season in fourth place, earning 80 points.</p>
<p>They therefore had to navigate the playoffs to join Fulham and Bournemouth in celebrating promotion &#8211; and they did so by beating third-placed Huddersfield 1-0 in the final at Wembley.</p>
<p>In the regular season, Forest won 23 games, drew 11 and lost 12. They scored 73 goals and conceded 40 for a goal difference of 33.</p>
<p>In comparison to their fellow promoted clubs, Forest scored one fewer goal than Bournemouth. Both sides were some way off Fulham&#8217;s goalscoring record, with the London side netting 106 times.</p>
<p>Forest ranked better in terms of goals conceded, with Bournemouth conceding 39 and Fulham 43.</p>
<p>Manager Steve  took charge in September 2021, succeeding Chris Hughton.</p>
<p>The former-Swansea boss transformed Forest&#8217;s fortunes. When he took over, the club were rock bottom of the Championship and had gained just four points in their first eight games.</p>
<p>After two playoff heartaches with the Swans, Cooper finally tasted success with Forest and is now preparing his side for what will surely prove a challenging Premier League season.</p>

<h2>The best Nottingham Forest FPL players 2022/23: Brennan Johnson (£6.0m)</h2>
<p><strong>Brennan Johnson (£6.0m)</strong> is labelled up as an enticing midfield option in some fantasy formats but is &#8211; probably correctly &#8211; down as a forward in FPL.</p>
<p>While the 21-year-old talisman has previously lined up as an attacking midfielder, he was regularly fielded as a forward by Cooper.</p>
<p>The Welsh international scored was Forest&#8217;s top scorer, with 18 goals. He also added 10 assists &#8211; again a club-leading figure.</p>
<p>This was some way short of promotion rivals <strong>Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.0m) </strong>and <strong>Dominic Solanke (£6.0m)</strong>, who scored 43 and 29 goals respectively.</p>
<p>But it was still an excellent return &#8211; good enough for joint-sixth place in the Championship goalscoring table &#8211; and represents the strongest return for a Forest player.</p>
<p>His shot accuracy of 59% was also better than both Mitrovic and Solanke (57% and 52% respectively).</p>
<p>Johnson took on penalty duties for Forest in 2022, scoring from the spot in the Championship three times.</p>

<h2>The best Nottingham Forest FPL players 2022/23: Jesse Lingard (£6.0m)</h2>
<p>Former Manchester United player <strong>Jesse Lingard (£6.0m) </strong>has signed for Forest after being heavily linked with rejoining West Ham.</p>
<p>The 29-year-old midfielder will have one eye on making the World Cup at the end of the year &#8211; and more playing time will be central to both his international hopes and fantasy prospects.</p>
<p>Lingard scored two goals in a bit-part player in United&#8217;s squad last season. A total of 14 of his 16 games came from off the bench.</p>
<p>But when he spent time on loan at the Hammers during the previous season, Lingard scored nine goals in 16 games.</p>
<p>He has signed for Forest on a one-year deal &#8211; and his experience will surely be of great benefit to Cooper&#8217;s side.</p>

<h2>The best Nottingham Forest FPL players 2022/23: Neco Williams (£4.0m)</h2>
<p>In signing former Liverpool right-back <strong>Neco Williams (£4.0m)</strong>, Forest have perhaps pulled off something of a coup.</p>
<p>He joined Fulham on loan in the January transfer window and was linked with a permanent move to Craven Cottage before Forest sealed a permanent transfer for the Welshman.</p>
<p>In 14 Championship games for Fulham, Williams scored two goals and two assists, showing his potential for attacking returns.</p>
<p>And while he may need to rely on points from the odd goal and assist, rather than Premier League clean sheets, it is his budget price which makes him an enticing FPL option.</p>
<p>A £4.0m defender always comes in handy when selecting an FPL squad and finding one who is a regular starter &#8211; as Williams surely will be &#8211; could be gold dust.</p>
