As far as FPL managers were concerned last season, Wolves had a pretty poor 21/22 season. Even their best FPL players struggled for ownership for large parts of the campaign.
Yet Wolves still managed a tenth-place finish, equalling Brighton&#8217;s tally of 51 points.
The reason they were so unpopular amongst FPL managers was relatively straight forward: they scored just 38 goals. Only the relegated Norwich scored fewer.
Rather than a free-scoring approach, Lage&#8217;s men depended on a resilient defence to accrue points. They conceded just 43 goals: a tally that only last season&#8217;s top four could better.

<h2>The best Wolves FPL players: Rayan Ait-Nouri (DEF, £4.5m)</h2>
Rayan Ait-Nouri&#8216;s 87 FPL points last season were composed of one goal and four assists. Most notably, he registered these numbers in under 2,000 minutes. 1,826 minutes, to be precise.
No player in a Wolves shirt had a better assists-per-90 than the Frenchman, who also played his part in seven clean sheets whilst on the pitch.
His heat-map is probably the most apt illustration of why managers should be considering the budget defender. He&#8217;s no stranger to the final-third, but he also shares corner duties with Joao Moutinho (£5.0m). On average, he takes around 1.5 corners per game.

Ait-Nouri&#8217;s reduced minutes were largely down to competition from Fernando Marcal, but with the Brazilian having departed over the summer, it&#8217;s likely he&#8217;ll get far more minutes in the 22/23 season.
To add to this, only one other £4.5m defender (Jan Bednarek) scored as many <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-bonus-points/">bonus points</a> per 90 as the youngster last season. When Wolves do keep clean sheets, it&#8217;s highly like Ait-Nouri will be rewarded
<h2>The best Wolves FPL players: Pedro Neto (MID, £5.5m)</h2>
Prior to Gameweek 1, there always seems to be one template player who defies all fantasy football logic. This season, that&#8217;s Pedro Neto.
The Portuguese midfielder has never been a particularly popular FPL pick, and yet he finds himself on over 20% ownership at the time of writing.
We&#8217;re not entirely sure who started the Neto trend, but one thing is certain: if he does start the season well, and you don&#8217;t own him, you&#8217;re probably going to fall behind.
In the first proper game of pre-season, Neto scored in a 4-0 win over Alaves, which had FPL managers chomping at the bit to see the £5.5m midfielder in Premier League action.
He played just 459 minutes last season, notching one goal, one assist and 22 FPL points during that time. Nothing to write home about, to be frank. The season prior to that, he managed a much better five goals, eight assists and 124 points across just over 2,500 minutes.
But even in the 459 minutes Neto played last season, he made enough of a mark for some of the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fantasy-premier-league-team-reveals/">world&#8217;s best FPL managers</a> to take notice.
Indeed, he had an xG per 90 of 0.29, higher than any of their regular starters. Remarkably, the same can be said for his xA too, which was a massive 0.39 per 90. Only Morgan Gibbs-White (£5.5m) and Chiquinho (£5.0m) could do better, but they only played 210 minutes between them.
In fact, when you look at expected goal involvement per 90, only Raul Jimenez (£7.0m) could do better than Neto&#8217;s 0.25. Impressive stuff.
The consensus amongst the majority of Wolves fans is that, when fit, Neto is in Lage&#8217;s preferred XI. If &#8211; and it&#8217;s a big &#8220;if&#8221; &#8211; he is able to remain injury-free and get a consistent run of minutes under his belt, all the signs point towards Neto being one of Wolves&#8217; most dangerous attackers.
The 22 year-old, who has scored just nine goals in 73 top flight games, is the ultimate &#8220;potential player&#8221;. But if the gamble pays off, it&#8217;ll pay off emphatically.

<h2>The best Wolves FPL players: Raul Jimenez (£7.0m)</h2>
At £7.0m this season, Raul Jimenez is the cheapest he&#8217;s been since his debut season in the Premier League. Two seasons ago, he was £8.5m.
That&#8217;s largely because he&#8217;s only scored 10 goals and registered six FPL assists over the last two seasons: hardly worthy of an £8m+ price-tag.
With that said, Jimenez&#8217; injury history has been no secret. It&#8217;s not like he&#8217;s fallen out of favour, or even that he&#8217;s fallen out of form. It&#8217;s that he hasn&#8217;t actually had much time on the pitch.
Last season, for example, he registered eleven attacking returns in 2,630 minutes. It&#8217;s not exactly the sort of form he exhibited in his 17-goal 19/20 campaign, but given Wolves only scored 38 goals all season, it&#8217;s pretty impressive. Indeed, Jimenez had a higher goal involvement &#8211; per 90 and in total &#8211; than any of his colleagues.
If we&#8217;re to buy into Neto&#8217;s impressive potential, as so many FPL managers have, it&#8217;s perplexing that we can&#8217;t also entertain Jimenez as a viable option this season.
Only 2.4% of managers have him in their teams at the time of writing. With the second-best fixtures in the league according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker-old/">fixture ticker</a>, will that change before long?
