<p><strong>UCL Fantasy Matchday 2 </strong>tips from <a href="https://twitter.com/kwolf_ff">Kevin Wolf</a> who finished <strong>21st overall </strong>last season.</p>
<p><em>In this <strong>UCL Fantasy</strong> article, Kevin will review his Matchday 2 Wildcard team, the substitutions he will make for Day 2, and his upcoming strategy moving into Matchday 3.</em></p>

<h2><strong>Matchday 2 – Day 1 – UCL Team Review</strong></h2>
<p>A much better start to <strong>Matchday 2</strong> for me, finishing with a total of <strong>78 points</strong>.</p>
<p>As I outlined in my <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/ucl-fantasy-matchday-2-team-reveal-wildcard/"><em>UCL Fantasy Matchday 2 Wildcard Team Reveal</em></a>, a few of my final decisions rested on the health of <strong>Erling Haaland (€11.0m). </strong>It appeared he was out a few hours before the deadline, so I was able to move forward with my Haaland injury plan.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a positive lesson in planning ahead. Having a plan for if Haaland was injured allowed me to move fast with players I wanted in my Wildcard team.</p>
<p><strong>Gregor Kobel (€4.5m)</strong> managed to keep a clean sheet as <strong>Dortmund beat Sporting 1-0.</strong> He will be staying in my team as my goalkeeper, <strong>receiving 6 points.</strong></p>
<p>In terms of my defenders, two of three received clean sheets, and like many, I did not expect one of the biggest upsets in Champions League history as <strong>Sheriff beat Real Madrid</strong>. This personally hurts even more being a Real Madrid fan.</p>
<p><strong>Stefan de Vrij (€5.0)</strong> managed to keep a clean sheet as <strong>Inter tied Shakhtar</strong> and he frustratingly received 5 ball recoveries for an extra point (one more and he would have received 2 points).</p>
<p><strong>Noussair Mazraoui (€4.5m)</strong> also received a clean sheet and looked very offensive. I&#8217;m happy to own him moving forward. He managed 6 ball recoveries and finished with <strong>a total of 8 points.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Eder Militao (€5.0m)</strong> was my only defensive disappointment from Day 1. Real Madrid lost, as Sheriff put two goals past them. <strong>He received 8 ball recoveries for 3 points,</strong> so I am fine with owning him moving forward.</p>
<p>My midfielders were much improved in Matchday 2, and I think the Haaland injury actually helped balance my midfield with more offensive players and it paid off this Matchday.</p>
<p>The Egyptian King, <strong>Mohammed Salah (€10.5m)</strong> came into my Wildcard team on fire, scoring two goals and receiving the Player of the Match award, finishing with <strong>16 points.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Christopher Nkunku (€7.5m)</strong> kept with his goal scoring form, putting an early one in the back of the net, while also receiving 6 ball recoveries. I am happy with his <strong>9 points.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Brahim Diaz (€6.0m)</strong> managed an assist but was annoyingly taken off at 57 minutes and only received 1 point for playing,<strong> totalling 4 points</strong>. The red card AC Milan received did not help Diaz and his points.</p>
<p>My two ball recovering,<strong> budget midfielders</strong> finished on opposite sides of the points. <strong>Edson Alvarez (€4.5m) managed 5 points</strong> with a clean sheet and 8 ball recoveries. <strong>Geoffrey Kondogbia (€5.0m)</strong> only received <strong>1 point</strong> and will be subbed out.</p>
<p><strong>Sebastien Haller (€8.5m),</strong> my Haaland replacement, came into my team late and performed well. He scored a goal and even managed a ball recovery point. There were other chances for him, however, I will take the goal.</p>
<p><strong>Karim Benzema (€10.0m)</strong> took my armband into Day 1 and was able to score a goal. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for more against a team like Sheriff. He had his chances, but he did put his penalty away well and will be a good option moving forward.</p>

<h2><strong>Day 2 of Matchday 2 – Substitutes </strong></h2>
<ol>
<li><strong>Substitute Geoffrey Kondogbia (€5.0m) to Robert Lewandowski (€11.5m). </strong>You don’t have to watch football to make this move. Kondogbia finished with 1 point and Lewandowski is arguably the best striker in the world. Substitute complete.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Eder Militao (€5.0m) to Joshua Kimmich (€6.5m). </strong>Militao only finished with 3 points and Kimmich has offensive upside and a good chance for a clean sheet playing Dynamo Kyiv.</li>
<li><strong>Substitute Brahim Diaz (€6.0m) to Cesar Azpilicueta (€5.0m). </strong>I am 80-90% sure about making this transfer. Diaz did receive 4 points which I am ok with, however as long as Azpilicueta starts he has offensive threat and Chelsea can always manage a clean sheet. Even against Juventus.</li>
<li><strong>Switch captaincy from Karim Benzema (€10.0m) to Robert Lewandowski (€11.5m). </strong>I am 70% sure about making this switch. Benzema did get a goal and losing 6 points would hurt, however the upside of Lewandowski against Dynamo Kyiv may be too tempting to pass up.</li>
