<h2>How many chips are available in FPL?</h2>
<p>As in previous seasons, the <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fpl-bench-boost-and-when-to-use-it">Bench Boost</a>, <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-free-hit-chip-in-fpl-and-how-can-we-use-it">Free Hit</a> and <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-triple-captain-and-when-to-use-it">Triple Captain</a> chips can be played once at any time over the season.</p>
<p>Only one chip can be played in a single Gameweek.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-wildcard-and-when-to-use-it">Wildcard</a> chip can be used twice a season. The first Wildcard will be available from the start of the season and can be played at any point before the Gameweek 16 deadline.</p>

<p>The second Wildcard will be available after the Gameweek 17 deadline and will remain available until the end of the season.</p>
<p>A major change to the FPL rules has been brought about as a result of the FIFA World Cup.</p>
<p>In order to accomodate the World Cup, all FPL managers will be given unlimited free transfers to play in Gameweek 17, so technically we have a third Wildcard at our disposal as well.</p>

<h2>When should the first Wildcard be played?</h2>
<p>There are plenty of different thought processes here.</p>
<p>A lot of managers like to plan a Wildcard in advance, while there are others who think that a Wildcard should be played when a team 'needs' it.</p>
<p>The barometer for a team needing a Wildcard this season needs to be set a bit lower than usual, as a result of the effective third Wildcard we have at our disposal in Gameweek 17.</p>
<p>I now look at the various windows where Wildcarding looks like a real possibility.</p>
