<h2>How Long is Doherty out for? &#8211; Best Doherty FPL Replacements</h2>
<p>Considering that Doherty is currently owned by more than 75% of FPL managers in the top 10k, any potential absence is of major concern to the FPL community. <strong>According to an initial reports, Doherty is set to be out for the remainder of the season:</strong></p>

<p>With that in mind, Doherty is an easy sell for me.</p>

<h2>Joao Cancelo (£7.0m) &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Doherty FPL <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>Just because Man City don&#8217;t have a Double Gameweek in 33 should not mean that their assets get ignored this week. They have all to play for in the league and have an extremely favourable set of fixtures coming up. Cancelo is roughly 50% owned in the top 10k but for those who don&#8217;t have him, I would make him my number one Doherty replacement.</p>
<p>He is the defender with the highest number of shots playing in the best defence in the league – so he can haul in any fixture even if it’s just a single gameweek.</p>
<p>He should be a priority transfer if you don’t already own him – if there was ever any doubt, he is suspended from the UEFA Champions League semi final and Walker is injured as well. Brighton have scored just thrice in their previous eight games so chances are that new owners will be rewarded straightaway.</p>

<h2>Fabian Schar (£4.4m) &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Doherty <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>Defensively, Newcastle have been really solid particularly at home where they have conceded four times in their previous six home fixtures which bodes well for them heading into Gameweek 33.</p>
<p>Schar would be my first choice from the Newcastle defence – both Palace and in particular Leicester have been susceptible to set pieces this season with Leicester ranked as the side having conceded the highest xG from set plays this season. Schar is on direct free kicks in the absence of Trippier and has the highest number of goal attempts among all defenders in the league over the past eight gameweeks, which makes him an explosive option.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s also worth noting that Schar is at a bench-able price and also easily playable when Newcastle play Norwich and Burnley in Gameweek 34 and 38. Further, the bookmakers have given Newcastle a healthy 55% chance of keeping at least one clean sheet this week which bodes well for their defence.</p>

<h2>Emerson Royal (£4.5m) &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Doherty <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>Even though Emerson does not have the same quality that someone like a Doherty does, he is the natural like-for-like replacement.<strong> Sergio</strong> <strong>Reguilon</strong> is better than him statistically but he has competition from <strong>Ryan Sessegnon</strong> so is more of a risk.</p>
<p>Conte actually flirted with the idea of playing <strong>Dejan Kulusevski</strong> as the right wing back at one point, but I don&#8217;t think he will go there again due to his form as part of the Spurs front three.</p>
<p>Spurs are ranked third for clean sheets and big chances conceded since Conte has taken over. They have a <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">great run of fixtures</a> coming up and all to play for which makes Emerson a decent option, especially at his price. However, there is one caveat here &#8211; if you get Emerson, you will be unable to triple up on Son, Kane and Kulusevski later on in the season if you wish to do so.</p>

<h2>Reece James (£6.3m)/Marcos Alonso (£5.5m) &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Doherty <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>James would be my pick from the two assuming that you don&#8217;t have him. There is no doubt about James’ potential – the fact that he is only behind<strong> Trent Alexander-Arnold</strong> among defenders when it comes to xGi per 90 this season should tell you about his explosiveness.</p>
<p>He has already registered three FPL scores of 18 points or more this season, and has every chance of adding to that tally with the favourable fixtures Chelsea have coming up &#8211; including two potential Double Gameweeks in quick succession in 34 and 36 (if Chelsea beat Palace in the FA Cup).</p>
<p>If you already own James, then Alonso is a big differential to jump on &#8211; especially if Chelsea do double in Gameweek 34 as suspected. He is coming in off the back of impressive performances against Southampton and Real Madrid which suggests that he has worked his way into the first team for the short-term at the very least.</p>

<h2>Matthew Cash (£5.2m) &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Doherty <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>This one is a bit of a left field move. If you can afford to hold Doherty this week, then Cash becomes a good replacement if Palace beat Chelsea in the FA Cup.</p>
<p>A Palace win in the Cup would mean that Aston Villa double in Gameweeks 35 and 36. In that instance, they&#8217;d have a very good set of fixtures, particularly for Gameweek 35. Villa blank this gameweek but this strategy could work if everything falls according to plan. It is worth noting that Cash is top for penalty area touches and second for attacking returns among defenders since Gerrard took over.</p>
