<h2><strong>Who are the Best Mid-Priced Goalkeepers in FPL?</strong></h2>
<h4><strong><br />
Edouard Mendy (£5.0m) – Chelsea</strong></h4>
<p><strong>Edouard Mendy</strong> has been priced very generously by FPL this season. At just £5.0m, you can have the goalkeeper for one of the best defences in the league.</p>
<p>Chelsea kept 16 clean sheets (3<sup>rd</sup>) last season conceding only 33 goals (3<sup>rd</sup>) with an <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/">Expected Goals Conceded (xGC)</a> of 39.4 (3rd).</p>
<p>They were only behind Manchester City and Liverpool when it came to defensive solidity, and that's very likely to be the case again this season.</p>
<p>Although the Blues have lost key figures in defence such as Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, they have signed <strong>Kalidou Koulibaly (£5.5m)</strong>.</p>
<p>They will likely sign more replacements to slot into that back 3, and therefore I don’t see their clean sheet potential suffering too much.</p>
<p>Thomas Tuchel's men rank third for defence according to our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">Fixture Ticker</a> and even though they have some tricky fixtures in their opening games, they are more than good enough to keep even top teams at bay.</p>
<p>Their games against Everton (a), Leicester City (H) and Southampton (a) in particular look favourable.</p>
<p>Mendy is a good option to start the season with. He is a much more viable option than he has ever been.</p>

<h4><strong>Nick Pope (£5.0m) – Newcastle United</strong></h4>
<p><strong>Nick Pope </strong>has been a solid goalkeeper option in his time in the Premier League.</p>
<p>His previous exploits have come while playing for Burnley, but he has now moved on to a much better side in Newcastle United.</p>
<p>He finished as the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game in 2019/20, while also making the fourth most saves (120).</p>
<p>Last season was pretty poor by his standards, but he was playing for a team who were very weak, and subsequently got relegated. He still managed to make the fourth most saves (121) and is a good, consistent shot stopper.</p>
<p>Newcastle are a much different side to the start of last season. Defensively, they should be much better; Nick Pope and <strong>Sven Botman (£4.5m)</strong> are some of the signings they have made at the back, which will no doubt improve them.</p>
<p>They conceded 62 goals (15th) with an xGC of 63.3 (14th) but you can bet they will be a top 10 defensive side this season.</p>
<p>They don’t have the best <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">fixtures</a> to start the season, but this is less important for goalkeepers than any other position, due to save points.</p>
<p>After a very favourable Gameweek 1 against Nottingham Forest (H) they play Brighton (a), Manchester City (H), Wolves (a) and Liverpool (a).</p>

<h4><strong>Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) – Leicester City</strong></h4>
<p>It's fair to say 2021/22 wasn't the best season for Leicester City, especially in defence.</p>
<p>It was a poor year for them by all accounts, but a lot of that was down to the numerous injuries they suffered in defence throughout the campaign.</p>
<p>However, <strong>Kasper</strong> <strong>Schmeichel</strong> picked up 12 bonus points (3<sup>rd</sup>), made two penalty saves and made the second most saves (131) overall. These are all factors that can set goalkeepers apart from rivals in FPL.</p>
<p>The Foxes are bound to have a better season than last, and I can see them not only finishing up higher in the table (8<sup>th</sup>) but also keeping a lot more clean sheets.</p>
<p>Last season they conceded 59 goals (14<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 68.1 (18<sup>th</sup>) but Schmeichel still ended up with 131 points.</p>
<p>A decent season at the back for Brendan Rodgers men could see the big Dane hit 150 points easily.</p>

<h4><strong>Aaron Ramsdale (£5.0m) – Brighton</strong></h4>
<p>The Arsenal goalkeeper had a decent season for Arsenal. The Gunners kept 13 clean sheets (3<sup>rd</sup>), conceding 48 goals (7th) with an xGC of 50 (6th).</p>
<p>They are one of the best defensive sides in the league, and will likely be this season too. <strong>Aaron Ramsdale</strong> had a much better first half of the season than he did second, when Arsenal slipped up and weren’t able to clinch fourth spot.</p>
<p>The ex-Bournemouth man scored 14 bonus points (2<sup>nd</sup> amongst goalkeepers) and regularly picked up bonus when his side kept a clean sheet.</p>
<p>Mikel Arteta’s men have a very kind run of opening <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">fixtures</a> this season. They play Crystal Palace (a), Leicester City (H), Bournemouth (a), Fulham (H) and Aston Villa (H) in their first five.</p>
<p>They could well keep two or three clean sheets early doors, and Ramsdale could also benefit with saves and bonus points.</p>

<h4><strong>José Sá (£5.0m) – Wolves</strong></h4>
<p>The Portuguese shot-stopper was the fourth highest scoring (146 points) goalkeeper last season, making some unbelievable saves along the way.</p>
<p>He made the fourth most saves (121) and also had the second highest BPS (722) amongst goalkeepers.</p>
<p>Wolves are a very solid defensive side, and have been since their arrival in the Premier League four seasons ago.</p>
<p>They kept 11 clean sheets last season (5<sup>th</sup>) conceding only 43 goals (4<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 58.1 (11<sup>th</sup>).</p>
<p>They have always been one of the toughest sides to break down, and a strong defensive side. I don’t see that changing this season, and their defensive assets will no doubt be good value again.</p>
<p>Bruno Lage’s men actually have very good <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">fixtures</a> at the start of the season. They play Leeds United (a), Fulham (H), Newcastle United (H), Bournemouth (a) and Southampton (H) during their first six games.</p>
