<h2>How Long is Toney out for? | Best Toney FPL Replacements</h2>
<p><strong>Ivan Toney (£6.6m) </strong>missed Brentford&#8217;s recent fixture v Leeds United due to COVID and has <strong>already been ruled out of their game against Watford</strong> on Friday.</p>
<p>Even though Bees boss Thomas Frank failed to rule out Toney for their upcoming fixture against Man United in midweek, according to the Athletic, <strong>Toney will miss the midweek fixture</strong> as well due to COVID protocols.</p>
<p>I now look at the various routes FPL managers can take as they look to replace him:</p>

<h2>Michail Antonio (£7.9m) | B<strong>est </strong>Toney FPL <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>Truth be told, <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/"><strong>Antonio&#8217;s numbers in recent times have been poor</strong></a>. He has failed to register a big chance in the previous six gameweeks. What’s been happening in recent weeks is that <strong>Jarrod Bowen</strong> has been making the runs in behind while Antonio has been dropping deep against the tougher opposition.</p>
<p>However, I expect Antonio to be hogging more of the shots in the weeks to come given the fact that the fixtures get easier. It&#8217;s worth noting that despite the slump in his form, he still stands best among forwards for expected goal involvement (xGi) this season.</p>
<p>Antonio could be a great set and forget option should you decide to bring him in now. It&#8217;s only a matter of time before he fires.</p>

<h2>Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.4m) | B<strong>est Toney</strong> <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>If you have a cash cow like <strong>Heung-min Son</strong> to get rid of, you can downgrade him in midfield to upgrade Toney to Ronaldo.</p>
<p>Ralf Rangnick’s comments about Ronaldo make me think that he will be Man United’s focal point in the weeks to come:</p>
<blockquote><p><em>“You always have to adapt your ideas of football – or your style – to the players you have available. Not vice versa. When you see Cristiano, at the age of 36, amazing. Top professional. At his age, I have never seen a player who is still so physically fit. He is still a player who can easily make the difference. It is about how we develop the whole team, not only Cristiano. He is more than willing to put his input into the team and his teammates will do the same.”</em></p></blockquote>
<p>He was given the night off vs Young Boys and I think he is <strong>highly likely to play the next three fixtures</strong>.</p>
<p>United’s <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker-old/"><strong>upcoming schedule</strong></a> will see them play against deep blocks – which are exactly the kind of fixtures where I’d expect Ronaldo to excel.</p>
<p>His numbers are on the rise anyway – he’s second for shots in the box and third for xG among all players in the league. And bear in mind that’s despite not starting the fixture against Chelsea!</p>

<h2>Josh King (£5.8m) | B<strong>est </strong>Toney <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>Since Gameweek 9, <strong>Josh King is third among all players in the league for xG</strong>. He’s level on big chances with Salah in this spell which tells you all you need to know.</p>
<p>King has played every minute that he has been available for under Claudio Ranieri so far and has had at least one big chance in four of the previous seven games.</p>
<p>Most of the xG he has accumulated have come in the games against Man United and Everton but I like him more than <strong>Emmanuel Dennis (£5.7m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Since Ranieri has taken over, Dennis has eight returns to King’s five but the underlying numbers suggest that it should be the other way around. I prefer King for just £0.1m more who has more sustainable numbers and is on penalties.</p>

</strong></h2>
<p>Ollie Watkins is showing signs of resurgence. He has already scored <strong>twice in four games</strong> for new Villa boss Steven Gerrard and has an obliging fixture schedule on his hands after the fixture against Liverpool this gameweek.</p>
<p><strong>He could also be on penalties</strong> considering that there are injury concerns over Danny Ings while Anwar El Ghazi seems to be out of favour.</p>
<p>The caveat to mention here though is that Watkins has been restricted to just two big chances and five shots in the box in the four games he has played under Gerrard.</p>
<p>However, it’s worth noting that Villa have so far faced some of the better defences in the league in <strong>Brighton, Crystal Palace and Man City</strong> under Gerrard so it’s hard to read too much into that.</p>

<p>This route involves dead-ending Toney to a fodder option, like <strong>Jürgen Locadia (£4.4m)</strong>. If you want to spare additional funds elsewhere for midfield or attack, this is a viable option but it could leave you with a weak bench.</p>

<h2>Keep Toney &#8211; B<strong>est </strong>Toney <strong>Replacements</strong></h2>
<p>This is probably the case if you have more pressing transfers to make.</p>
<p>If you can afford to bench Toney for the next two fixtures, then this option is viable.</p>
<p>Toney is highly likely to play all the fixtures &#8211; even during the fixture congestion &#8211; once he&#8217;s back, as he is Brentford&#8217;s talisman. However, the caveat to this is the <strong>price falls that will come along the way</strong> and the possibility of a weak bench should rotation be a factor over the next two gameweeks.</p>
