<p>Brazil's group-stage fixtures are as follows - all times in GMT:</p>

<h2><b> Brazil's route to the World Cup 2022: Qualifying performances</b></h2>
<p><strong>Top scorer: </strong>Neymar - 8</p>
<p><strong>Most assists: </strong>Neymar - 8</p>
<p>Brazil came into qualifying ranked third in the world and the pick of the 10 South American CONMEBOL region teams.</p>
<p>They topped the group by six points ahead of Argentina, with 14 wins, three draws and no defeats.</p>
<p>Eagle-eyed readers will note that falls short of the 18 games that should have been played.</p>
<p>One of their matches against Argentina was abandoned after officials stormed onto the pitch amid Covid protocol fears. The match was never played.</p>
<p>But with four automatic qualification spots on offer, the missing match failed to have a negative effect on the five-time champions' procession to Qatar and they head to the tournament as favourites to win their first World Cup for 20 years.</p>
<p>Neymar was the star of the show, leading Brazil's stats for goals and assists - but the Selecao have an enviable squad full of depth, capable of contributing too.</p>
<p><strong>Marquinhos </strong>and <strong>Philippe Coutinho </strong>were on target in the opening game, with an own-goal and a brace from Liverpool's <strong>Roberto Firmino </strong>giving Brazil a 5-0 win over Bolivia.</p>
<p>Neymar got his first goals of qualification - three in fact - in the 4-2 away win against Peru. <strong>Richarlison </strong>of Tottenham Hotspur was the other scorer.</p>
<p>Firmino made it three for the campaign as Brazil kept a clean sheet at home to Venezuela, while Richarlison and <strong>Arthur </strong>gave them a 2-0 win over Uruguay to make it four wins in a row.</p>
<p>Richarlison and Neymar made it five straight wins following a 2-0 defeat of Ecuador, with yet another 2-0 win coming against Paraguay through goals from Neymar and <strong>Lucas Paqueta</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Everton Ribeiro </strong>of Flamengo gave his team a victory against Chile, the last match before the infamous Argentina abandonment.</p>
<p>He scored again in a 2-0 win at home to Peru, with no prizes for guessing who scored the second.</p>
<h3>Debut goals</h3>
<p>Brazil then faced Venezuela for the second time and they made it nine wins in succession. Marquinhos scored his second of qualifying and <strong>Gabriel Barbosa </strong>his first.</p>
<p>But it was most memorable for <strong>Anthony </strong>- now of Manchester United - who scored on his senior international debut, having come on as a substitute in the 3-1 win.</p>
<p>The winning streak came to an end after a goalless draw away to Colombia, however a 4-1 win over Uruguay returned the Selecao to the norm. Neymar and Barbosa scored, while <strong>Raphinha </strong>netted a brace. It was the former Leeds man's first start and goals for his country.</p>
<p>The home tie against Colombia was up next, with Paqueta scoring the only goal of the game.</p>
<p>Two draws - 0-0 against Argentina and 1-1 against Ecuador - followed, with <strong>Casemiro </strong>scoring a rare goal.</p>
<p>Qualification was rounded off in style, with three consecutive 4-0 thumpings of Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia.</p>
<p>The 12 goals scored demonstrated the breadth of talent at Brazil's disposal - three came from Richarlison and two from Coutinho, with Neymar, Raphinha, Paqueta and Antony on target, as well as goals from <strong>Vinicius Junior, Bruno Guimaraes </strong>and <strong>Rodrygo</strong>.</p>
<p>Brazil finished their matches with a goal difference of +35, with 40 scored and five conceded.</p>

<p>Four international friendlies were held across June and September.</p>
<p>South Korea were swept aside by five goals to one - Neymar scored a brace, with one each from Richarlison, <strong>Gabriel Jesus </strong>and Coutinho.</p>
<p>Neymar added another goal in a 1-0 win over Japan to round off June.</p>
