<p>Gameweek 13 is over and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are busy making transfers &#8211; but who were the biggest under-performers of the week and who scored more points than they should have?</p>
<p>Every season, we see the biggest haulers of the previous gameweek brought into hundreds of thousands of teams.</p>
<p>But the secret to success in FPL is to jump on players who are about to score more points &#8211; not chasing points.</p>
<p>So with this in mind, we&#8217;re taking a look at the expected points for FPL Gameweek 12 and highlighting those who were fortunate to score well &#8211; and who perhaps could have netted a haul themselves. We&#8217;ll also examine an early list of the most popular transfers in and out.</p>

<h2>Popular FPL transfers in</h2>
<p><strong>Anthony Gordon (£5.9m) </strong>scored and assisted in Gameweek 13, leading to the joint-third highest FPL points score of the week.</p>
<p>He tops the transfers in list early on, with more than 200,000 managers bringing him in.</p>
<p><strong>Bryan Mbeumo (£7.0m)</strong> missed a big chance on his way to blanking against Arsenal. But with Luton visiting the Gtec Community Stadium in Gameweek 14, the Bees midfield is the next most popular choice.</p>
<p>A trio of Arsenal players completes the top five, with two being defenders.</p>
<p>The Gunners have the best defence in the league so far and kept their sixth clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 13.</p>

<h2>Popular FPL transfers out</h2>
<p><strong>Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) </strong>and <strong>Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) </strong>missed the weekend&#8217;s action through injury.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s feasible that both could be back in time for the weekend, which could make more than 450,000 transfers seem premature.</p>
<p><strong>Son Heung-min (£9.7m) </strong>has lost the backing of 134,000 managers after blanking against Aston Villa.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> don&#8217;t tell the whole picture though, with the South Korean having three goals ruled out for offside.</p>
<p>And three is the number of successive games without an attacking return for Son, although narrowly avoiding a haul might persuade some to hold him a little longer.</p>

<h2>Gameweek 12 over-performers</h2>
<div class="mceTemp">Most popular transfer in Gordon ranks second for over-performance in Gameweek 13 &#8211; bettering his expected points by 8.9.</div>
<p>Statistically, the Englishman&#8217;s returns came against an expected goal involvement (xGI) of 0.4, although there was nothing particularly out of place from an eye test perspective.</p>
<p>He delivered a pinpoint cross for <strong>Jamaal Lascelles (£4.1m)</strong> to head home, while he got the better of two Chelsea players to side foot a shot home from inside the box.</p>
<p>His £5.9m price point will likely continue to attract investment, as will <strong>Cole Palmer (£5.3m) </strong>who had a quiet game on the opposing side.</p>
<p><strong>Diogo Dalot (£5.0m)</strong> is much less popular, in 4% of teams. He was this week&#8217;s biggest over-performer, with an assist from an expected assists (xA) tally of 0.05 and clean sheet against an expected goals conceded of 2.7.</p>
<p>Dalot is also the biggest over-performer since Gameweek 6, some 20.6 points better than his expected points.</p>

<h2>Gameweek 12 under-performers</h2>
<p><strong>Reece James (£5.4m)</strong> was the only player to under-perform his expected points by five or more in Gameweek 13.</p>
<p>He ended on -3, with a red card in Chelsea&#8217;s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle. Brighton captain <strong>Lewis Dunk (£5.0m)</strong> also saw red.</p>
<p><strong>Jefferson Lerma (£4.7m),</strong> <strong>Dara O&#8217;Shea (£4.4m) </strong>and <strong>Dejan Kulusevski (£7.0m) </strong>all missed big chances, with the latter hitting the woodwork when he looked certain to score.</p>

<h2>Under-performing players to watch &#8211; and one to hold?</h2>
<p>Looking at the last four gameweeks, there are several players who are worth highlighting.</p>
<p><strong>Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) </strong>has under-performed his expected points by just 2.7, with one goal and two assists in four appearances.</p>
<p>But dig a little deeper and his assists &#8211; against an xA of 0.17 &#8211; have propped up a poor return in front of goal.</p>
<p>The Uruguayan ranks first for shots on target (10), second for shots in the box (14), second for big chances (six) and fourth for expected goals (xG).</p>
<p>His xG of 2.69 suggests he should have at least doubled his goal tally and while his fixtures remain strong, he could be one to look to in December.</p>
<p>Nunez is no stranger to missing big chances, so FPL managers may be skeptical that he can be a reliable returner, however he is not far off his season-long xG of 5.58, with four goals.</p>

<p><strong>Johann Berg-Gudmundsson (£4.8m) </strong>is a surprise leader for the most key passes (12) in the last four gameweeks.</p>
<p>The Burnley midfielder has created two big chances and has an xA of 1.12 but no assists to his name.</p>
<p>The struggling Clarets have the third best fixture run over the next six, according to the <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">Hub ticker</a>, and the veteran midfielder could be an alternative option in the budget midfielder category for those who fancy a major differential.</p>

<p><strong>Ollie Watkins (£8.5m) </strong>has been the ninth biggest over-performer of his expected points this season.</p>
<p>But he has slid down the list, with an under-performance of 11.95 points since Gameweek 10.</p>
<p>The Aston Villa striker has two goals in four games, however his xGI is more than double his attacking returns, at 4.5.</p>
<p>With an ownership of 43.8%, Watkins is fully on the radar of a significant chunk of FPL managers.</p>
<p>But owners may think twice about selling him ahead of difficult fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal if they believe he can continue to get opportunities.</p>

<p><strong>Lucas Digne (£4.7m) </strong>has failed to register an assist in recent weeks, despite an xA of 1.52. He has created two big chances and made 10 key passes.</p>
<p><strong>Alex Moreno (£5.0m) </strong>looms as competition, following his return from injury, but the Spaniard has been an unused substitute in Villa&#8217;s last four games.</p>
<p>The immediate fixtures, as well as Moreno&#8217;s potential reintegration into the starting 11, make Digne a risky buy in FPL.</p>
<p>But if he keeps his place, he could soon add to his three assists for the season.</p>
