Aleksandar Mitrovic is facing a potentially lengthy ban after confronting the referee in Fulham&#8217;s FA Cup match against Manchester United &#8211; but how many games will he miss in FPL and who else is close to a ban for 10 yellow cards?

<h2>What are the rules on yellow cards?</h2>
Players who received five yellow cards in their sides&#8217; first 19 games had to serve a one-match ban.
But now we are well past that milestone, it is ten bookings which is the focus.
Picking up 10 yellows by a players&#8217; 32nd game will see them miss two games.
This must be served in the Premier League &#8211; and not in the FA Cup if their teams are still involved.
<h2>Who&#8217;s received 10 yellow cards so far this season?</h2>
Joao Palhinha was shown his 10th yellow in Fulham&#8217;s game against Wolves in FPL Gameweek 25.
He has now served his two-match ban and will be able to return in Gameweek 29 &#8211; Fulham have a blank gameweek in 28.

Newcastle&#8217;s Joelinton received his tenth booking in Gameweek 26. He will also be available again in Gameweek 29.
<h2>Who&#8217;s near 10 yellow cards and a two-match ban</h2>
Ivan Toney remains one booking away from a suspension.
The Brentford man, in 41% of teams, avoided a yellow card in Blank Gameweek 28.
The Bees have a double in Gameweek 29, although owners will need him to avoid a card in the first match to get two fixtures out of their man.

<h2>Red cards: Who&#8217;s serving a ban? How many games will Mitrovic miss?</h2>
Casemiro served the first game of his four-match in the FA Cup at the weekend, leaving three league games before he can feature again for Manchester United in domestic competitions.

FPL Gameweek 28 &#8211; and the FA Cup quarter-final &#8211; saw a number of red cards issued.
Shandon Baptiste will miss one match after receiving two bookings against Leicester. He can return for Brentford&#8217;s second match of Gameweek 29.
Jonny&#8217;s red for serious foul play in the Wolves v Leeds game will lead him to missing three games.
Teammate Matheus Nunes will be unavailable for two matches after being sent off in the same game. He was protesting Leeds&#8217; fourth goal &#8211; but he was on the bench at the time.
<h3>Mitrovic and Willian sent off in FA Cup</h3>
Suspensions as a result of red cards in the FA Cup are also served in league games.
A mad few minutes in Fulham&#8217;s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford saw Willian, Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva sent off.
Willian handled the ball on the goal line, leading to his dismissal following a VAR check.
The Brazilian midfielder will miss one game, according to the official FPL app.
But it&#8217;s worse news for the 15.4% of FPL managers who own Mitrovic.
He is set to miss at least three games for violent conduct, confronting and pushing referee Chris Kavanagh in the aftermath of the Willian incident.

<h3>What extra punishment could Mitrovic face?</h3>
The FA can in certain circumstances decide to impose an even longer ban if they feel the standard punishment is &#8216;clearly insufficient&#8217;.
And this they did on Monday night (March 20), with an FA statement reading in relation to Mitrovic:
<blockquote>&#8220;The FA has claimed that the standard punishment which would otherwise apply to Aleksandar Mitrovic for the sending off offence of violent conduct that he committed towards the match referee is clearly insufficient.
&#8220;In addition, Aleksandar Mitrovic&#8217;s behaviour and/or language was allegedly improper and/or abusive and/or insulting and/or threatening following his dismissal.&#8221;</blockquote>
FA <a href="file:///C:/Users/olipo/Downloads/disciplinary-regulations-updated-1506.pdf">regulations</a> state that &#8216;physical contact or attempted physical contact&#8217; with a match official could result in:
<ul>
<li>Suspension of between 112 days and two years, with a recommended starting point of 182 days</li>
<li>A fine of up to £150</li>
<li>An order to complete an education programme</li>
</ul>
Paolo Di Canio received an 11 game ban in 1998 for pushing referee Paul Alcock and causing him to fall to the ground.
Leandro Bacuna was banned for six matches in 2017 for barging into an assistant referee.
Any extra punishment for Mitrovic should be known relatively quickly, ahead of the Gameweek 29 deadline.
The forward has yet to be sent off in the Premier League this season, however he was suspended for accumulating five yellows in the first half of the campaign. He is on six yellow cards overall.
Fulham were also charged with failing to control their players, while Silva also faces <a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65018262">charges over his conduct</a>.
<h3>Update 29/3/23: Mitrovic and Silva statement released</h3>
Fulham released a statement from Mitrovic and Silva on their club website on Wednesday, apologising for their conduct.
Mitrovic said:
<blockquote>&#8220;On a personal level, I regret my actions that led to me being sent off. I allowed my frustration to get the better of me, and how I reacted was wrong.
&#8220;I was trying to get the referee’s attention, but I appreciate that I should not have put my hands on him and I understand why he showed me a red card, my first in-game sending off for Fulham and my first since the 2015/16 season.
&#8220;I have accepted the three-match ban for my red card, I have spoken to Chris Kavanagh to apologise, and I have volunteered to accept a club fine.
&#8220;I now want to do what I can to put this incident behind me and get back to helping my teammates on the pitch as soon as possible.&#8221;</blockquote>
While Mitrovic noted the automatic three-match ban, the FA&#8217;s conclusion over a potential extra ban is still awaited.
