<h2>Spurs stats and best players</h2>
<p>Spurs impressed in attack during Ange Postecoglou's first season as Spurs manager, with 74 goals spread around the squad thanks to an all-out attacking style of play.</p>
<p>They were ranked 6th in the league for xG created, and their FPL points reflected this, with Postecoglou's side accumulating the 7th most of any side.</p>
<p>It was their defence that prevented them from ranking higher in this regard, with Spurs placing 13th in the league for Expected Goals Conceded (xGC).</p>

<p><strong>Son Heung-min</strong> was Spurs' top scorer last season with 17, spending stints playing both as the centre-forward and out wide, with penalties also helping his tally.</p>
<p><strong>Richarlison </strong>was next best with 11, but the Brazilian ran hot and cold under Ange Postecoglou. <strong>Dejan Kulusevski </strong>was third on the list with eight, and the Sweden international is expected to start the season playing as a false nine for Spurs.</p>

<p><strong>Brennan Johnson</strong> led the way for assists with 12, with the Welshman also contributing five goals. <strong>James Maddison </strong>was close behind, but has fallen out of form in recent months.</p>
<p>Son produced 10 assists, taking him to an impressive 27 returns in 34 starts, while eight assists from <strong>Pedro Porro</strong> is notable among defenders - the Spain international also managed three goals.</p>

<p>It was a bottom half rating for the Spurs defence according to Expected Goals Conceded (xGC), with Postecoglou's side keeping just 7 clean sheets.</p>
<p>They had plenty of injuries in defensive positions last season however, so if they can keep key men such as <strong>Micky Van de Ven </strong>and <strong>Destiny Udogie </strong>fit this time around, they will stand a better chance of improving on these numbers.</p>

<h2>What is Spurs' style of play under Ange Postecoglou?</h2>
<p>The main goal threat for Spurs has generally come from their wide forwards, with <strong>Son Heung-min </strong>and <strong>Brennan Johnson </strong>looking the most likely to start the season in these positions.</p>
<p><strong>Dejan Kulusevski </strong>has been playing the central role in attack for Spurs ahead of <strong>Richarlison</strong>, but Spurs have now dipped into the market for striker <strong>Dominic Solanke</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>James Maddison </strong>could see his position under threat from Kulusevski as well as new signing <strong>Lucas Bergvall</strong>, while <strong>Pape Matar Sarr </strong>is expected to join <strong>Yves Bissouma </strong>in midfield.</p>
<p>In defence, both <strong>Destiny Udogie </strong>and<strong> Pedro Porro</strong> are expected to make frequent forays into the final third, as well as shifting into midfield at times. Porro in particular is heavily relied upon to create chances and play progressive passes.</p>

<p><strong>Cristian Romero </strong>has formed a strong pairing with <strong>Micky van de Ven </strong>whose recovery pace is integral to Spurs' style of play. Their high defensive line was left exposed last season when the Dutchman was out injured.</p>
<p>Another player Spurs will need to keep fit is <strong>Guglielmo Vicario, </strong>whose improved displays between the sticks prevented his side from conceding an excess of goals on several occasions last season.</p>
