 FPL Gameweek 36 is a double gameweek for two teams - Brighton and Newcastle - but when it comes down to Alexander Isak (£7.0m) and Callum Wilson (£7.1m), who is the best pick?
Newcastle's two games, against Leeds (a) and Brighton (h) are likely to lead to their star strikers being among the most popular captaincy picks, so owning at least one of them is expected to be the priority for many an FPL manager.

<h2>Will Isak and Wilson start together?</h2>
Before considering their overall stats, deciding whether they will both play from minute one is a sensible starting point.
Gameweek 35 saw the duo start together for the first time - but the Magpies' 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Arsenal may not have given Eddie Howe much encouragement to continue the experiment.
Wilson lined up as the central striker, with Isak playing on the left in Newcastle's usual 4-3-3.

Isak played the full game, while Wilson was replaced by Anthony Gordon (£5.1m) after 78 minutes.
Wilson's involvement was limited, with the Englishman having just 17 touches all game - two of which were in the box. Isak by comparison had 38 touches, with seven coming in the box, but neither had a game to remember.
Isak's positioning out wide didn't stop him from moving inside. As Jacob Murphy hit the post in the second minute, Isak was on the edge of the six-yard box awaiting a rebound.
He also rattled the woodwork with a second-half header, again moving centrally to attack a Murphy cross.

Howe briefly touched on the partnership in his post-match press conference:

"I thought both players played well but we were up against a very very good team today. We still created incredible chances and there was moments in that game where I thought we were going to explode and catch fire - it never quite happened."

Asked whether he felt he needed to get Isak into the game more after half-time, Howe said:
<blockquote>
"Definitely at half time that was one big thing that we focused on. We just didn't get Alex the ball enough to show his qualities so yeah, as a team we didn't function as well as we needed to in that aspect because I felt he could be a real threat in the game when he did get the ball.
"I thought he was a thorn in their side - but certainly something for me to reflect on and analyse."

The fitness of Sean Longstaff (£4.3m) could have an influence over whether both start together. Without the midfielder in the side, Joelinton (£6.0m) is likely to play in a midfield three, rather than as the left forward.
Even in this instance though, Newcastle have other options than Isak in the wide forward role, including Allan Saint-Maximin (£6.1m), who played 12 minutes against Arsenal on his return from injury.
Isak and Wilson playing together came up in Howe's press conference ahead of the weekend's game against Leeds. He said:

"They were on the pitch together but they weren't a partnership as such. I saw enough from Alex, who played well I thought, to know he can play in that position and I know Callum in the number nine role is an outstanding player so it [playing both together] is something I'll definitely consider."

<h3>When have Wilson and Isak played together in the past?</h3>
A combination of injuries and substitutions between the two limited them to a couple of cameos as a partnership until recently.
But Isak and Wilson have played together in four of Newcastle's last six matches, for a total of 134 minutes.
Arsenal game aside, their link-ups have come in the second half.
Isak set up Wilson in the 3-1 victory over Southampton in Gameweek 34, however it was the second-half comeback against Brentford in Gameweek 30 which sparked debate over whether Howe could play both men at the same time.

On that occasion, it was Wilson who assisted Isak, a game Newcastle went on to win 2-1.
Howe said:
"Can they play together every week? Tactically, probably not. But can they play together in a game like this? Absolutely."
A shift in formation, with Isak playing as a number 10, was likely in Howe's thinking here.
So the Arsenal game, in which they featured in the Magpies' usual 4-3-3, was more significant. If only it had been more successful, FPL managers may have had more confidence it would be repeated.
For now then, one or the other starting appears to be the more likely scenario.
